how often should they shed?

measley

Smile, you are alive!!
I know, I know, two basic care posts in one day... sorry people!

I did try looking it up but searching for "shedding" brings up so many posts I figured it would be faster and easier to just ask...

So I've had Melman for about one month and a half and he hasn't shed yet.

For a couple of weeks, I was feeding him 1 pinkie every 7 days but then read on here that babies should be fed every 5 days so for about a month he's been eating 1 pinkie every 5 days and I think (though it could be wishful thinking) that he's getting longer but not bigger and still hasn't shed.

I thought he was going to start because his color began fading a little about 2 weeks ago but since then, nothing has happened at all.

He seems healthy and alert. He's never had any problems feeding and he's the friendliest thing in the world so I don't think it's anything healthwise-

but what I would like to know is how often do babies usually shed and do you think anything may be wrong with him?

thanks for your replies in advance!

Usually they shed about once a month. I don't think there's anything wrong with him. If you get a gram scale, though, you can keep track of his growth. But that doesn't really take off till they're on fuzzies, and hoppers for sure.

highcolorcorns: thanks for the chart! it definitely helps to see it!! I'll start keeping one for Melman!!

no problem. I just make a chart for my guys using Miscrosoft Excell. It helps to be able to see how things change along the way.
