How the hell did it get out?

Put my snake away a few hours ago, as per normal. Came upstairs about five mins ago. Turned my PC on, swung around and saw my snake sat on top of his viv! I know hes only a baby but their is no-where for him to get out. Ok, maybe a few tiny holes where the top clips on but only a few milimeters in diameter and hes not exactly a small snake.

Anyone got any tips on making my viv even more secure?

Sorry I should of attached pics ... trying to find a USB cable.

I cant belive he was just sitting their though .. looking at me as if to say "Well your cage aint keeping me in!"

Ive gone round the top and filled up all the gaps with some paper/cardboard in a effort to make sure he stays in this time.

My creamsice amazed me the other day too. I put her in her viv for the 1st time and watched her to see of she was going to hide or explore (I was hoping for exploration to see what she would do)..she explored and i watched her find herself an escape right ontop...trust me babies can squeeze through anything!...Cardboard may be a deterant but im not sure that that's the best option...as mentioned above definitely get a viv with a sliding/lock screen too...also make sure that its properly clasped before you leave. My clasp wasnt properly secured and that's how my snake was able to get out. She's happily in her Viv always searching for a way out..but not as often now. I think she's getting it now. All it takes is one slip and they are gone.:dancer:

Good luck with your snake ;)

I have my baby corn in an exo terra tank - got one of those after he escaped from a viv with glass sliding doors - (through the small gap where the glass overlaps) - found him 4 days later in the same room. no escape yet with the new tank.

I have never had luck with keeping hatchling snakes in glass tanks (except the critter keepers), they always manage to get out. For my latest batch I am using these little boxes. No chance of escapes:

I've had a couple escapes from exo-terra tanks, it was my fault though, I didn't make sure that the sliding covers over the holes for the cords were all the way closed and he managed to squeeze out through one of the holes. Took me a while to figure it out.

I havent had that problem yet. My little guy is about 15 inches long now and I'm starting to get concerned. THANKS ALOT hahahaha. When I go home before class I will have to put the clips on his tank. I dont want him getting out expecially when I'm not home.
