Shiari
Blutterer
So, a couple weeks ago my manager's step mom rescued a cat from an acquaintance. We don't have much of a history on George aside from that he's around 13 years old, and weighed 24 pounds this time last year. He was diagnosed, rather quickly, as a diabetic.
George was positively covered in mats so we had to shave him, except for his tail. It was naturally bald. And that's when we got have full visual impact of how badly George was neglected. And somehow, despite that, George is full of life and love and constantly harasses everyone at work. <3
The following pictures are very sad. They were taken when I brought him home with me (after a rather interesting string of errors that resulted in him getting his insulin dose twice. EEP!) so that I could give him Karo Syrup all night and take frequent blood glucose readings. He did fine, and admittedly he looks much better now.... now that he's gained a whopping 6 ounces. He's still only a little over 6 1/2 pounds.
You will also see a small wound on his right shoulder. His owner tried to cut some of the mats of with scissors. That wound was, a week prior, the size of a silver dollar and terribly infected. Never take scissors to your cat. A small nick cam become a giant tear very quickly.
Never, EVER, let any animal in your vicinity live like this!
So now I present to you George... the walking anatomy lesson.
P.S. George is still in need of a permanent home...
