Hurricane Assistance

For all of those who are facing the double onslaught of Hurricane Frances, I would like to offer my home as refuge for any snakes or reptiles to get them out of the area until the storm passes and your home gets back to normal functionality.

You ship them up here, I won't charge for food or care, and I'll pay to ship them back to your home.

Tomorrow would be the last day for shipping before the storm arrives, unfortunately.

Just drop me an e-mail for contact information if you're interested.

Since they're ordering an evacuation for people, airlines obviously won't take reptiles on board. So I'd like to help in any way that I could. Maybe other people would like to offer their support as well on here.

Updated Sept.2, 2004:
Since I'm going to work for a few hours today and not have constant immediate access to my computer for checking e-mail, I'll just put up my shipping address here for people to take advantage of if they want.

And if you use Fedex, no that address is not a PO box.

Your offer is very gracious and I do hope that those in need are able to take advantage of it. I'm watching Hurricane Frances closely and we'll be starting to board up (again) tomorrow after work. Luckily, we kept just about everything secured after Hurricane Charley, knowing that more storms were going to come. This one looks really bad and the whole state is going to feel it's effects, no matter where it makes landfall. My snakes (78 adult/subadult and 85 hatchlings) will have to ride out the storm in the garage, and my dog, cats, fish and breeder rodents will have the house. Depending upon how severe things may get here, my family and I may either remain at home or go next door to my Mom's. She recently had a generator installed so we'll be one of the lucky ones who will have some power. I have a bad feeling about this hurricane. My husband and I talked to his sister earlier tonight, inviting her to stay with us (she lives in a mobile home about 25 miles south of us) and she's taking the attitude of many in this area..."we hardly got any rain from Hurricane Charley, so why bother with Hurricane Frances...it's going to hit the east coast". She's actually going to go out partying Sat evening! I've seen the radar pics, the main storm from end to end is as large or larger than the entire width of the Florida peninsula! It is currently a catagory 4 hurricane, there are NO fronts anywhere in sight to move or slow this storm down, and it's going to just get bigger! It could easily make landfall as a catagory 5 hurricane, completely cross the state and still hit the Gulf as a catagory 2 hurricane! I'm already grieving for the people who think it won't happen to them.

This quick reply has gotten too long. But again, thank you for your offer.
