I have very little experience with hypos, just got my first pair from Rich in August, but I have seen MANY normals. About half of my collection are normals. Judging by the darkness of your snake's ventral checks (1st pic) and the darkness of the small amount of black seen around it's saddles (3rd pic), and also by it's general appearance in the other 2 pics, I would have to say normal. I have a male '00 normal that came from my own breeding stock that have never shown any indications of being het for hypo in the past 7 years. Unless you looked at his ventral checks, he could probably pass as a hypo. His name is Snickers and he is het butter.

hypo

it possibly could be a hypo but red rat snakes also have very little black on them which look like hypos

Hmm...

He has a general wash of melanine over his entire body, which hypos usually lack. So I'd go with normal. Whatever he is, he's very nice!

thanks everyone!

i call her a normal then!, actually her name is tangerine. She's a big girl too! it was funny, she was crawling in my sweater pocket a few nights ago when i took the pictues, and as soon as she stuck her head out, her eyes got this hungry look on them. She NEVER turns down a meal.

female

are you sure she is a female? any corn over 4an a half feet long is usually always a male i have one female right at 4 an half but she is 7 years old and most certainly wont grow any longer

yes, it's a female, i bought her from don sonberg at the all ohio reptile show back in august, and she was sold to me as a female. her cloaca isn't bigger than her tail like it is in the males.
