My wife just told me after christmas i can get 2 more snakes, which is awsome considering she hates snakes. No boas or pythons allowed as we have a small baby. So i think i have narrowed it down to a rat snake and a gopher snake. Cant wait. If any one knows any good rat or gopher snake sites with forums or info that would be nice as i am going to start the research asap. thanks.

congrats on getting to get 2 more snakes!!! Rat snakes are a species of snakes. There are a bunch of rat snakes, and gopher snakes are 1 of them.:grin01: Of course, for a rat snake, I would recomend a corn snake!! :spinner:

There are very small boas, you know- a rosy boa won't even get as big as a corn snake for instance. In case you really wanted a boa. A gopher can be a pretty large snake.

Well i have 2 corns now and i want something a little bit longer and bigger i really like the yellow rat snake or an everglades rat. But still have some time so need to do the research, i guess i could also look at a milk snake or a king snake of some type. Again i am not allowed a boa or python as i hade to get rid of mine bacause we have a son know. So my mind is in a bind. lol.

ya i agree naci but i am not a fan of smallish snakes. I had a 8 foot female jcp and a 9 foot female red tail boa so the bigger the better just not as big with such a heavy body like the boas and as for rosy boas i have yet to see one for sale in and around my area and im not shure why as they are a very pretty snake.

Maybe you should look into a Mexican Black Milk! That's a big, gentle snake. Gorgeous, too. Plus the cool color change.

Japanese (Kunisar Island) rat snake. They're great if you like dark green snakes! Not to mention very friendly, intelligent, and personable!

Ya there alot of options but wre i live i know there is a huge list of snakes we cant have. But are there any snakes that would be common to get in my area that are what i am looking for you could reccomend. That would be awsome for any more input. Thanks
