I don't wanna get pooed on!

Whenever I pick up a snake I want to handle, I first have a look at their vents to see how "full" they are...lol If they are full of pooh, I put them down and handle them another day.

Only ever been poohed on once or twice...both times I DIDN'T check! hehehe
 
ah, you get to know your snake after a while. I have one very predictable one - he always poops two or three days after eating, so when I take him out I expect it and watch him. You can tell wen they are about to go when their sides start contracting. My other one...poops a lot so unless he just went I always watch for it. And I don't let them on anything that I don't want messed - my keyboard and tablet are off limits.
 
If a snake's been sitting around for a while, especially right after it's done digesting, a little bit of exercise will get it to poop. That happened to me today. I took Somoa out and put her on the grass outside. She pooped about 5 minutes later. Easy clean up :]
You just have to watch and learn.
 
Most people are afraid of getting bitten. Glad you've crossed that bridge and stick to fear of feces. :grin01: Honestly, it isn't that bad. Its just a part of having them.
 
Well, I have 5 children, a cat and snake. So basically, I've been pooped on, peed on, barfed on, hacked on, sneezed on and boogerized on. So, when Ella poops on me, it's nothing I haven been through. I have to admit though, snake poop IS the most AWFUL smelling poop I have ever encountered. And four of my 5 kids are boys!

I don't swim my snakes at all. If my Corn hasn't pooed in a while, and there's a bulge near his vent, i'll usually grab a trash can and put it near the place i'm going to sit while I handle him. The most important thing you should do is keep an eye out for behavior. I've noticed with my Corn that he will cruise along for a while like normal. When he's ready to poo, he'll start cruising at a faster rate and eventually he'll just stop. Then he lifts his tail and goes. If i'm lucky I get it in the trash can. If i'm not, it ends up on me. :laugh:
Before the trash can trick, I just wouldn't handle him until after he defecated. The only problem with that now is the fact that he only goes poo about once every 2 - 3 weeks.
