I got a cornsnake

Well after having my hubby nag at me for years about getting a cornsnake, I finally relented and let him get one. We already have a bearded dragon who is gorgeous but I never thought I'd get a snake. He is only a few weeks old (I think) and we have called him/her Slim Shady after a rather famous rapper  He is very cute and mellow and he is currently living in a B&Q "Smart" box in which there is a skull ornament, 2 other hides, some plastic branches and a water bowl. I am using kitchen towel as a substrate and have the container half set on a heat mat inside a bigger viv. He seems to like his new home. I haven't yet got a thermostat as the petshop didn't have any in but I monitored the temps with a digital probe thermometer and they were fine. I'll probably get the thermostat at the weekend.

Does everything above look ok?

Thanks

Sounds good so far! Congrats on your new baby. Now all we need are photos!!

Hi :wavey: welcome to the forum!

Everything sounds good. I can't wait to see pics of Slim Shady (your snake, not the rapper :p)

Welcome. I've been to Halifax a few times, I think I remember a little, mostly we partied there.
Did you put the thermometer probe in the viv under the towel right on the heat mat? That would be the hottest place to monitor.

Please stand up, please stand up

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone. I had Slim out again last night and he didn't seem bothered at all. I took a few pics (will upload as soon as I find my phone cable). I have the thermometer probe inside the tub directly on the floor over the heatmat. I just had a look at the pics on my phone and I got some really good ones last night. Will try and get them on my pc this weekend
