I got him!!!!!!!

Poor thing must be so hungry if he's only 9 weeks old and has barely had any food since his little life started.

okay..well i got him the frozen pinkies..they feel pretty small...

As long as they're no bigger than 1.5 times the size of the widest part of your snake, you'll be okay. Feed one of the smaller ones in the bag for his first feeding.

If you've got the stomach for it, you might slit the pinkie's backs, by making a few small cuts in them. It'll help to further reduce stress, and they digest them a lot better. :)

*Remember to wash your hands before and after handling the pinks. Not touching them at all is preferred. It will help reduce hunger strikes, and reduce the chance that your smell will mask the scent of the pinkie*

Ummm..the lady said its the contract to only feed that often...it worried me a little...so i should feed him on thursday..i got him on monday...

cornynoob-i know isnt it sad..he pry is about 10 weeks now...i dont know still very young...i cant wait to get him some food...

Thursday should be okay, Friday is probably better. I waited 5 days to feed Tootse for the first time. Since your guy hasn't eaten for a couple weeks though, 3-4 days will probably be okay, since it's quite likely he's hungry.

That's okay about slitting...a lot of people can't and their snakes still do just fine and dandy.

Good luck -- I hope he turns out to be a good eater!

thanks so much...oh sorry another question...should i just put him in a small shoe box with newspaper on the bottom to feed him in...or what do yuo guys reccomend?

I use a small see-through Sterilite container (bought at Wal-Mart) that comes with a hingeable/snap lid on it.

That way I can place Tootse in there, still watch her eat, and with the snap on the container, it holds the lid in place in case she decides she wants to explore a little before she eats.

A shoebox would be fine, just make sure you don't walk off while he's in there. He'll be able to push that lid right off.

No way!! That is absolutely not correct. He should be fed one pink every five days. If you have a bunch of pinks, start with the smallest ones first.

Well my little nagini was only being fed once a week, due to when I got her home she didn't get her first meal with me for 10 days after her last one, and she hungerly gobbled it up. So I'm sure your little baby will too.

Here's an Okeetee baby- see the difference? (This little guy belongs to Lore)

is that a normal?...oh and someone please answer this question...when i was putting him in the cage and adjusting stuff i was holind him,he took the side of his head and sort of pressed it on my hand..i was sort of worried he was gonna bite me so i put him away...do you know what it means? anyone lol

No that's an Okeetee, Nanci is trying to explain that your snake was a normal.
And I'm sure he was just checking you out. If you are afraid he will be afraid too.

okay..i was not afraid, i was just sort of wondering what the helk it meant,do they mark scent? lol..i mean if he bites me, he bites me..right? lol...so my baby is an Okeetee..cool :D...

Did he shed yet? I've heard they press against people's hands when they want to start shedding.

Okeetee - Okeetee corns are considered by some to be a locality variation, but the term commonly describes a certain look in a cornsnake. The background color is bright orange. The blotches are large and very red, the black borders around the blotches are very thick and well-defined, and the belly has very dark, solid black checkers. These are generally considered to be one of the most beautiful corn morphs. (Courtesy of Serp Widgets)

Hey, you know if he does happen to bite you, which he probably won't, do not put him away- that rewards him for biting. If he bites, you need to keep him out a little while longer until he is calm.

Nanci

PS, Okeetee is a type of normal. All (classic) Okeetees are normals, all normals are not Okeetees. There are also Miamis, Upper Keys, and other locality normals.
