Don't they kinda need to be together for them to breed? :grin01:

Yes very true but i was told the girls atlest will have to wait a week or so before there ready to breed. unlike the male thats ready now. but i Just got a week ago 15 mice and 10 pinkies. so i got some time. also can someone give me the link to how to make that c02 thing or something that kills the mice?thanks

I would put them together now evan thought they are too young so that they can bond, mice seem to do better in groups, then when they are ready they will breed. Thats just my .02.I hope it all works out and you can get some pinks:)

i have all 3 together they are doing great. the male seems to be allot happier then being stuck alone. so now there all in one rack.

Now i looked up how to breed mice. and i got told 2 stories. One you can Leave the male in there for the whole time the females are in there. there only a few risk with the male killing the babies.

the other story was to never let the male in with the female only to breed then that it. Also to never let too females breed together because they might fight or eat each other babies.:shrugs:

also red is it takes 2 months to wait for them to be at breeding age:eek:.
Ok i don't think i have 2 months. these guys where in the "hopper" tank so doesn't that mean the only like 13 days old?(the male was in the mice tank)

So if this is all true. i was going to get another group too add. Is the male attest ready for breeding? so that way all i need is two older girls?

For a first attempt at breeding mice , it is definitely best to put them all together and leave them alone...one male and his females...no adding or removing them. The male can stay with the females and all will be fine. He will help raise the babies. Males almost never eat or kill their own young. If it does happen, it's usually a female. But its not all that common.

Leave them together. It may take a month or 2 to get the first litter, but after that you should get another litter from each female every 3-4 weeks.

If you want to try with older mice, set them up in a completely different tank.

You guys that breed your own food are tougher than me! Those guys are so adorable- I couldn't do it.

When you start getting overrun with mice, it suddenly doesn't seem so difficult.

I can't breed domestic rats for feeders though, they all end up as pets.

i used too breed gerbils. i had Bunchs of them 100's at a time. half as pet half as feeders. It helps when it comes to killing i think since am used too what can/will happen. and i had a pet rat it bit half of my mother thumb off and bit me really badly.. my father was so mad. she turn in to snake food.when i wasnt home. So rats are not something i think as "Nice". the mice let me hold them. one bit me but it didnt hurt. the two white ones Cuddle togather the brown one doesnt really care. she always diging or playing around.
