i just wanted to know if i could breed a cornsnake and a gopher snake

You can...the question is though, do you want to? They are not the most beautiful creatures on earth (the offspring)...

i just wanted to know this guy wanted to trade my a female gopher snake for my okeet hypomalistic male

Not sure that's a fair swap unless you really, really want a female Gopher Snake. Sounds like you'd come off worse in that deal.

no i just wanted a bigger female snake i really love the way corn snakes look and act i have 2 large males and wanted to trade for a large female corn would that be an even trade a male for a female or are females worth more

In general, female snakes tend to be worth a little more, due to the breeding potential. But it depends on your personal circumstances and what you particularly need/want.

If you're considering breeding, Corns are quite easy to get on with and pretty easy to find. It might be worth taking a step back and thinking hard about what sort of hatchlings you'd like to produce. Lots of people make impulse purchases and then find that snakes they've bought over the years, don't really fit in with what they end up doing (I know - I've been there!).

There are other considerations around breeding - the main one of which is "Will I be able to sell the hatchlings?". As has been said, Corn x Gopher hybrids might not be as attractive to a buyer as some pureblood Corns of a really nice morph.

If you genuinely have an Okeetee Hypomelanistic male, that could be the basis for a really nice breeding project. You'd just have to be patient and find him the right ladyfriend.

If I'm not mistaken, you live in California. That means that your first concern should be that it is illegal for you(or your friend) to buy, sell, or trade and native subspecies of gophersnake. My guess would be that your friend has a normal Pacific Gopher...they native to Cali and in order to legally make a trade, he would need to have a valid California Propogation Permit, unless the snake is an albino.

Aside from that...if you go out between dusk and 11:00 pm...you're likely to find your OWN female gophersnake coming out and warming up on the pavement of back roads before her evening hunt. All you need is a flashlight, pillowcase, and fishing license...
