You Savvy?
So I did a search thingy and came up with squat. Could someone tell me about the benefits and downsides of feeding frozen thawed rats verses mice? Any heath issues that might result? Nutritional value? Personal recommendations? Key things to look for when buying mice or rats? And anyother input would be appreciated. Thanks much :wavey:

Well size for starters. Some corns outgrow adult mice and its more financially economical to feed one small rat than several adult mice.

Rats are far more fatty than mice - so theres an obvious difference in nutritional value, But it isn't always a good thing. I like to give my corns a rat "chaser" with their meals every few weeks to give them a boost. I wouldn't feed rats fulltime as corns are slender snakes and don't need as much fat as the likes of royal pythons and boas do.

When buying mice and rats, look for clean bodies - ie no mite bites or scabby tails. Freezer burn can be a common problem too. Pink, smooth and fat are your best bet :)
