Mice! They taste so nice!
I dropped my olympus again. (The poor thing has been through a lot, it's battery door is held on with nursing tape already). First of all it refused to turn on or off properly, making a whirring sound because the lens was stuck half-way in. Gently knocking it against a table top cured that. But it's producing very trippy effects on the pictures now, with a weird colourwash. I tried putting it back to default settings, with no change. I think today is new camera day

Some people spend hours processing photos to get them to look like that - I hope you're going to keep it as a funky effects camera :)

What new one are you going for? Any excuse to shop ...

I've had a great day yesterday, the tumble dryer died too, so I can't use this as an excuse to upgrade as much as I'd like. The Casio EX-Z770 has some good reviews

Argh! It's discontinued, although still advertised on the website, they don't sell it. Back to interweb trawling.

My eldest boy has claimed it for messing around with. The movie feature is still normally coloured, I wish I wasn't so clumsy, this is the third camera I've disabled.

I think we all have our 'wonderful' moments.... shortly after I got my camera, I went on hoiday to france.... one of the first things I took a pic of was the Eiffel tower and yep... dropped it straight onto the rocks they have under it. sheesh first day I had it and I was sure it was ruined.... lucky it wasnt but I sure was mad at myself for a long long time.

The annoying thing is, even though my household insurance covers these accidents, by the time I've paid the excess and my premiums get increased, I may as well just replace the camera.
I've found the Samsung S1050 for £99, if they're in stock I'll get it.

One of the first things I did with my new camera (my third in a year, but definitely not going to buy any more for a while now...) was bash it against a vivarium. Seems fine though, but I'm trying to be more careful!

My first digital camera survived years of clubbing, getting dropped whilst being thrown to friends, took great pics in bad light/strobing lasers/ etc, and took great videos with sound (I've got lots of great photos and vid files from my wild-child days). But no good for macro shots.
As soon as I upgraded, I've killed one camera at the beach- sand & cameras don't mix, gave one to the boys after a week because I didn't like the colour balance in macro and now this one, after surviving a fall from the pony in my pocket, getting dropped quite often when out with the ponies, (hence the nifty taped-up battery door), succumbed to a fall onto carpet!

Oh noez! Camera shopping is the most fun though. I would highly recommend the Casio exilim series. You can buy them fairly cheap from ebay!

But I want a camera today! (As I said, Curry's is advertising the Exilim for £99, but I've just rang the store and found it's discontinued)

This is getting annoying now, I found the Canon A550, on the website, but not in stock at the shop.

Oh nawww! Right missus I have had a look at curries online and for the money you won't get a better camera than the fuji finepix s8000fd. It's a great camera if you just want to point and click, but I have had a good play around with a friends one of these and its got some of the same functions you would expect to find on a DSRL. You can use it completely manually or in certain priority modes. It also has a nice macro feature and its completely lightweight. Nice wee camera IMO.

If you're going for a Canon one (I love my p&s canon ... choice between auto/presets and m/av/tv modes, you can add wee lenses to it for extra macro too) then see if you can find one with IS - it's a great feature. The one I've got is the 570IS, but there's a few more models available with it built-in too.

You BEAUTY! Read some good reviews, then rang the shop, they've got it! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <- Big kisses for you!

You're right Toyah, I will have to bite the bullet and upgrade to something more like that, but it'll have to be when I have a miraculous month or so without anything else in the house breaking down. Then I can take my time and get a good deal off the internet, but for now I just need a camera!
