I WON SOMETHING!!

Hey everyone!

So, I won something (as you can tell from my post title). I know it seems very excitable, but it's not a car or anything. But, I never win anything ever, so I am super pumped!

At the CRBE in Toronto last weekend I put my name in all the draws, because, why the heck not?

Got a call two days ago that I won an Exo Terra gecko kit! I can't remember how big it is, what it encompasses, etc. (except that it is a $300 setup), nor can I seem to find the actual "kit" anywhere online. --- On that note, if anyone was at the CRBE and remembers what the kit included, please feel free to let me know!

But now I am stuck. I have yet to pick it up, but I don't know what to do with it! Should I keep it to put a critter in down the road? Should I sell it for cash monies (as a university student, I could always use some)?
I know that I will want something else eventually, and the upfront costs are the major reason I don't have more critters. However, my apartment is tight on space, and even though my partner is very excited that I won, he is hesitant about us getting anything else soon.

So, any thoughts? Feel free to throw other suggestions out there! And just know, I've already had one or two people suggest 'donating" it to them

Thanks!!

Hmm, tough choice! Congrats on the win!! I'm another one of those people that never wins anything, so I totally get how exciting that is, no matter what the prize is.

Depending on how big it is, are there any gecko species you are interested in? Planted tanks are fun to keep! I have a number of planted tanks for my Cresties.
I have contemplated putting together a tank for a few frogs as well. One of my friends has started breeding frogs, and is now obessesed with them! LOL
They are cute little critters, and some of them call, it's really cute.

If you're creative, you could even set it up as a planted tank and sell it ready to go.

Congratulations. It is always so fun to win. Especially if it is something nice for your hobby.

Depending on the size, perhaps you could upgrade one of the animals you currently have? If not, you'll have to get something new ;)

Congrats!!

I like MysticExotics ideas especially the frogs.
Most might find them boring but I think they're most fascinating. Even a common species like whites tree frogs are so interesting to watch at night. You gotta love those faces. I keep a few species in the tall exo-terra's. One of the frogs even sings along when I'm playing guitar LOL......
Only draw back is keeping crickets.

I would also use that type of tank for a frogs, my husband is facinated by them, so if i won this type of prize i would give it to him for frogs. He has been so tolerant with my snake , i would love to give him a gift, like that.

Thanks for all the replies!!

I definitely don't have anything small enough to "upgrade" into their! ;) (One adult corn snake, one juvie ball, and one young BTS who is already in her 4x2 vive!)

I am not very thrilled about keeping bugs in the house. I am not freaked out by them or anything - I save almost all bugs in my house, especially spiders, and let them free outside. Except house flies and earwigs. - I just don't want them getting out and having the hassle of going through that.

I also don't think I am really all that interested in any small geckos, at least not right now. Maybe a cresty down the road, and I have been interested in leachies lately! But I imagine they'd need a larger inclosure.

After talking with the head of the Exo Terra office again, it is a crested gecko kit (still not sure what that means or how large it is). Sounds like they may ship it to my place or a pet store in my city for free :) so that's a plus. Yay!

Omg. Omg. *into THERE. I just did one of my worst pet peeves. I am actually horrified right now.

It's probably a 12 X 12 X 18 then, if it is for a Crested Gecko.
You could house a couple of the small dart frogs in one of those. :)
