Idle Curiosity

This is a highly confusing thread! All this talk of cubes, motley, stripe, sunglow, sunkissed, sunblock spf 30, etc..

My sunglow's so bright, I gotta wear shades!

Hopefully I can find out the cube's parents, and then I'll be back for more fun and confusion!

I've had several normal motleys, stripes and a cubed and wouldn't consider any of them to be overly "bright". This is the cubed as a subadult:

Here's the deal with the cubed regarding his colour. I wanted an orange snake because it's my daughter's favourite colour. I picked out and paid for a motley stripe on the breeder's website. He emailed me saying he had just sold his last one that day and offered some others instead, not knowing what my criteria was. Told me he was sending me someone I'd be pleased with and assured me he would turn bright orange as he matured.

Well he didn't, and that's what the issue was. Not that these kind of snakes are variable in colour, but that *my* particular snake was guaranteed to mature to a bright orange.

Well, any breeder worth their salt will never guarantee the adult coloration of any snake. They can show you the parents and older full siblings and say that there is a good chance the snake will mature to their coloration, but a 100% guarantee is just asking for trouble. And by the looks of your snake, it isn't mature yet, so give it some time. It's still going to do some changing before it's done.

Been talking to the breeder about the parentage of the little cube. Unfortunately he didn't give me the ID number of the snake so it's proving difficult for him to look it up. However, he knows his snakes and how he breeds them and he's believes the cube is het for caramel.

Whee! That means I might get caramels if I breed them! (wait, wait, I said I wasn't going to do that, calm down ....)
