hi i'm a newbie not just on here but to the snake world too x

I've recently bought a pink amel thats all they told me in the shop but i've been looking on the net and i believe it to be an reverse okeetee but i could be wrong.
i think i've done every thing right so far but i haven't yet held it, everytime i touch it , it moves into it's hide so quickly i can't pick it up and i'll be truthful i'm still alittle nervous not of it biting me but just incase i drop it and hurt it or lose it they move so fast it's only a hacthling and just over 3 months only should i leave it longer ?

Common rule is to bring it home, then wait a week to hold it.
I was scared the first couple times i held my little guy but at 3 months old, even if they bite you, you won't even feel it. So if i were you, i'd wait the first week not to hold it. then i'd hold it a couple minutes each day, getting longer and longer. The first day maybe only 5 minutes, then the next day you can add 5 minutes... keep doing this so you can tame him down a bit, you really wanna do it when they are young so now would be the perfect time :)

Getting him out of the cage: You want to do this as fast as possible without startling him... So they don't associate coming out of the cage as a stressful process :)
So go semi-fast and if he is in a coil, scoop him up... and if he is moving around, grab him somewhere mid-body...

I know when i first got mine, the worst part was taking out of the cage cause i wasn't doing it fast enough and he'd always get jumpy and bolt around his cage... But now, he just sits there and looks at me as i pick him up, the calmest little boy i've ever saw. So just keep working with him and everything will be fine :) good luck!

I was scared of dropping them too, just handle them above a box of some sort. That way if you drop them, they fall in the box and no harm done :D
Welcome anyway :D

thank you

well i've had it 4 weeks now, thats the problem with getting it out is that it does get jumpy and i don't want to scare it but i have been putting my hand in and leaving it there and putting my fingers up to the breath holes of the cage when it sniffing about so hopefully i'll be able to do it soon
