Hello everyone. I've never owned a snake bought have known people that have. Always loved snakes since I was a kid.
I researched Iguanas for over a year but I got a job that took me away for a week or two at a time. Then my wife and I had a second child and the iguana room was taken.
I now work from home so I've thought more about a snake. A boa or python is to big for a pet snake for myself. So I've been looking into other smaller snakes. It came down to either a king or a corn. I, along with my 2 girls aged 7 & 3 thought corns were more for us. Probably because we were at a snake show at our mall and my oldest fell in love with a corn. She didn't want to give it up.
So I'm now researching alittle more before I get one. I'm sure I'll learn alot right here with lots of experienced/ hands on people. :cheers:

Yes, Baba-Lou is correct, it becomes an addiction. I personally only have one but it is "for now" ;)

Cornsnakes are one of the best as a "starter" snake. They are good tempered, not too big, easy to care for, a lot of different morphs to choose from and above all... they are so very cute and adorable!

You have come to the right place to research Cons, there are a lot of very nice people here with a lot of good advice and remember: "there are no stupid questions if you don't know the answers" so if you have a question….
Your question might already have been asked/answered and there is a search option which is very handy. ;)

Try to buy your corn from a breeder. You will often pay less for a healthier animal. :)

Don't forget to read the info in the links Ronzie gave you. And post pic of your animal when you will have it. :)

welcome to the forum I'm from the Brampton area but originate from T.O. lots of great info and help here I'm curious to know which mall held the show you referred to do you know about the one coming up on the 23rd in mississauga?

it is the largest in Ontario and has a LOT of breeders and much more if you haven't got one yet or want to get another this is the place!
 
Thanks everyone. I probably will be at the expo on Apr. 23rd. Just to check things out.
When I'm ready I will for sure get one from a breeder. I visit Port Credit Pet Centre every couple of months just to look at the creatures.

port credit is a good place to see creatures they are also the host of the expo which you probably already know, but which mall were you referring to that holds shows?

It was a one time show over the march break for the kids. They had corn, king, rat, garter and a couple of others. An educational show.
