Insecurity or Overexcitement?

Today our big male cali-king shed and we offered him a retired breeder for a meal - seeing as how he'd only had a light egg snack late last week. Well, this bad boy was either too afraid to let me go or so excited about having a whle mouse that he refused to let me go!

And my daughter didn't believe me when I said he was hard to get off, so she let him wrap around her hand:

Meanwhile, in the background, our cat was watching him scarf his mouse jealously:

Sometimes this snake really makes me shake my head.

These last two pics show the scar tissue back towards his tail. I don't know what caused the original damage - though I suspect it was prey-related - as he was injured long before we purchased him.

A blemish like that only adds character. I always thought I preferred the stark black black on white Calis, but this guy has me reconsidering. I really like brown snakes, and this guy's brown color is perfect. :cheers:

I think that's his desert phase coming through - even the few wild ones we've seen around here have had that deep brown to their scales in certain lights. Character? Hmm... I suppose his scar could do that, though, I think his personality outshines the character! lol... Thanks for the compliments though, and I'm glad I've turned the tables and have you considering now! :crazy02: :grin01:

Actually, that is the demon cat with the psycho personality - she's also a thief, as she's been known to steal mice. The worst though is when she runs ballistic through the house and springboards off your face. One of these days I fully expect her to get bit on the face or paw because she's always sticking her nose in the feeding dish. I keep a bottle of water on hand, but that doesn't alway deter her.

Thanks Nanci! When eating, Folly is one of the best garbage disposals we have. We got him to eat the bigger adults and retired breeders back when all of our corns were still taking hoppers and fuzzies. I don't give him rats - though sometimes we get ones large enough, because I don't want him to stop taking mice. He'll eat two adults in one sitting and still look for more though. lol - quite the pig he is!
