International Shipping

corn snake Breeder
Hi I'm Based In the UK I believe there are one or two breeders out there who do ship Internationally and as you guys over there seem to have all the interesting morphs, was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction/contact of breeders who do this. I was In Orange County at the F.I.R.E. expo and was advised that rich z. himself does this yet i cannot obtain prices/estimates. I would be utterly grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction. thanks. malky

I understand that Kathy Love does international shipping...I would recommend checking her website.

You're just down the road fom me! (Dunfermline)

If you do find anyone, drop me a note through here.

Unless you're planning on bringing in a few of the more expensive ones, the cost will probably be prohibitive. I believe the paperwork is also a bit of a 'mare.

Nice to see a fellow Scot on here!! Yeah guys have spoke to Kathy before and she couldn't give me a rough price/ballpark figure, all other people i have spoken to have minimum orders of about$2000, I'll need to wait until the end of the year i think when funds are slightly better

Maybe better off getting in touch with some of the UK breeders who ship in from the US. B&J and LexCorn both have Serpenco derived lines I believe.

They take the worst of the shipping hit for you that way.

I'm after pewters but, realistically, it looks like I'll need to invest in a charcoal and a blood red and do it myself .....

I have shipped several times to the UK. It usually costs about US $500 - $700 for permits, inspections, broker fees, freight, etc. So it is not worthwhile to do small shipments. Some of my UK customers also hired a broker to clear the shipment for them, adding to the cost.

Part of the problem is government requirements, and part is that few airlines will take animal shipments anymore. And British Airways, which still takes them and does go to Heathrow, is one of the most expensive. Some of the cheaper choices, such as Delta, go to Gatwick, and the shipment has to be sent to Heathrow. So sometimes it doesn't get there in time for inspection before the end of the day. So Delta often will not accept animal shipments to London. It can be a real pain to get it all done.

Shipping to other EU capital cities can be cheaper if they are served by Delta or other carriers that will accept animals.

If you will want to ship a large number of specialty corns, it is best to plan on doing it during the summer, maybe making a deposit the winter or spring before. Although there are plenty of corns around in the winter, the selection is considerably less than in the summer and fall.

Hi guys..

best bet for stuff like that are the EU shows...

I have a pair of pewters coming from Hamm for 125é each... that pees all over the UK prices for starters..

when you can get even get a seat on a coach for £170 or so each.. or if lucky talk to someone who is going and get animals brought back, its by far the cheapest way to do things..

i have Lav, hypo lav, Lav het hypo & Cinnamon stripe from EU breeders via hamm so far..

I'd love to be able to do a 'tanya' and ship from the US, but at the end of the day all i would have do from the EU is drive them home with a receipt from the seller... how much easier is that... than spending the money paying tax to line some officials pockets!

I've never been to any of the EU shows btw, all my deals are done remotely and all well so far.. i would go, but i think i would have to sell the car to afford all i wanted, and hitch hike home *sigh*

(hello everyone by the way!)

Nerys
