Hello everyone,
My name is Kate, I live in Oregon, and I'm new to the forums as well as snakes. I actually haven't gotten my first snake yet, but I plan to get one here in the next couple of months. I've been wanting to get a snake for a long time, so I've been doing a lot of research, but I still have a couple of questions that I haven't really found an answer to yet.
Does the gender of the snake affect how tame/docile the snake is? Is one sex easier to tame/bond with than another? I realize that each snake will have its own personality, but for my first snake experience, I'd like to make it the best possible.
Also, I have mixed feelings about whether to purchase my snake from a pet store or order it from a breeder. (I've been unable to find a local breeder, I'm in NW Oregon.) I don't trust Petco/Petsmart to sell me a snake that has for sure successfully eaten and shed, since I've gone in there before and they know absolutely nothing about the snakes other than what they can read about on a caresheet. I would like to be able to handle the snake beforehand though. I just don't know which way to go. Any insight? :headbang: Thanks!
