This morning on a walk i walked through a construction site and found a nest of 11 fuzzie rats. The mother was no were to be found and a few were crushed. So i brought thr live ones home . My wife wanted me to release them and let nature take its course. I told her that if even 1 dies i would well one died im assuming starvation. Would it be ok to feed thosr rats to my snakes if i deep freeze the rats? Is it better to do it before they are dead or can i try to get them to live long so they het a good diet im them.
 
How sure can you be that they haven't been exposed to pesticides or other chemicals on a construction site? Or that they aren't carrying a parasite load?

For the few dollars it might save in bought food, personally I wouldn't risk it.
 
I wouldn't do it, either, because of potential disease, parasites, environmental contaminants. Poor little guys...
 
Ok so what could i do to try and raise them 3 of them have passed since last nite they wont eat any thing i give them. Im not too worried about poisons they were about 3 miles from the next house i would say in any direction. They are brown tree rats i looked them up online they are all over out her. My girls have been playing wirh them so if i keep them how would i make them parrasite free?
