Still Snakeless
ive heard alot on this site about people letting there snakes out on the grass, is this safe or does it cause mites? also, is it even safe to let them slither on the carpet inside?

Yes its safe, as long as its warm, no ice or snow.. and i let mine go into my fluffy pillow, he loves it, thinks hes hunting in the grass or somthing :p DEVIL WORM !!

Anyways, goodluck, mabie make a surrouned please so he cant go "out of bounds" but still be out on the carpet : )

George.

I think it would be okay, but to be honest I'm not comfortable with setting my snakes down on the ground. This is just me personally however, so if you want to do it, it would probably be okay. Make sure there're no pesticides around though, if you take your snakes in the garden.

thanx for all ur opinions, and about that link, it still doesnt say where the mites come from, if you let r snake in the grass or carpet, can they get mites????

Years ago, I had a wild caught Pacific gopher named Chuckie. He was rescued from a dog, and I intended to release him when he healed, so wanted him to stay in touch with his wild side :) I took the metal side of a wading pool and sunk it into the ground about an inch, forming a complete circle, and then let him roam around inside. He seemed to enjoy slithering through the weeds.

Your snake can only catch mites if they are present in your lawn. Unless you have a lot of reptile activity in you yard, you're not likely to have mites.
