Is it toxic to the snake to use plaster of paris to build artificial structures in the viv... if you don’t know plaster of paris is i will try to help.. it is a powder that you mix with some water in a bowl that you poor over for example in my case some Styrofoam to form like a rock. the end result is a hard rock that looks very good...no where on the box does is state that this stuff is toxic only advices “not form parts of the body with it cause you might endeavor a warming sensation“..

I think you'd probably have to seal it somehow.

If a snake decided to poop on it (almost inevitable really) I imagine it would be nigh on impossible to clean it without ruining it.

That stuff is awsome, I used to pour it in animal tracks (Bear tracks mostly) in the forest, and preserve the shape. Im not sure if its toxic for snakes tho. Good Idea tho, Maybe you could seal it with Polyurathane. Just a thought.

It would have to be sealed anyway. Unless they've greatly improved plaster of paris since I last used it, exposure to moisture would cause it to crumble and ruin.

Here's another way to do it. (Looks cool, I want to try this sometime.)

I had some of these walls in my tanks when I kept lizards and frogs. They look great and really add to the overall appearance esp when you get some good greenery in there. Only problem I had was with smaller ones getting themselves worked between the glass and wall, I would imagine this could happen easily with hatchlings also. And they are not the easiest thing to clean with all the little crvices.

jablount14, a few of us have used 'Super Sculpey' clay, which is definitely non-toxic and very easy to use, you could make some fabulous things with that. Post pictures when you have :D
