it”s OK to feed snake outside of terrarium?

I've always fed outside their main tank and never had a problem. As long as the container you feed in is escape-proof and ventilated, and you're gentle when transferring back to the main tank, then it's fine.

As Lennycorn says, it gives me time to have a really good spot clean while they're out of the way

I also always feed in a seperate feeding container.

Why does this other person say it is not recommended? I don't see what the issue could be :shrugs:

i am romanian, and in my country are more ”smart” reptile owner, who tink if they are 1-2 snake knows everything about reptiles. escuse my bad language:idea:

I have some who will only eat out of their cages, and a few that will only eat inside. In a separate cage is better to avoid eating aspen and isn't a danger at all:)

I feed outside of their cages, because I don't want them getting used to being fed inside of the cages. For me, it's a conditioning thing. I don't want them, mistaking my hand as a rodent, when I go to take them out of their tank. They quickly learn what the feeding bin is, when feeding time is and will associate that time, to being placed in that bin.

It's also a convenience factor. While my snake is eating, I can spot clean the tank, change out water bowls or clean the rack.

Good Luck

Wayne

Seperate container here. I give the snake a good once over before feeding. Put them in the container, secure the lid and clean there enclosures. Just works for me.
