It's finally here! Woot!

Well, due to excessive heat in the state where this snake lived, I had to wait awhile for it to arrive, but it's finally here! a 2 y/o, 3' long Brazilian Rainbow Boa of unknown gender, and it's a BEAUTY! At least to my eyes s/he is :). Here are some pix taken this morning, indoors, with flash:

This one has a good personality, which is nice. Luckily, the person that I got it from worked with his snakes to keep them tame. S/he also loves to climb and has a fantastic grip--I had trouble unwinding it from my arm, so I gave up and just waited for him/her to do it on her own :).

lovely lovely Rainbow!
Good luck with him/her- humidity humidity, humidity :)

Thank you :). Her humidity is holding steady at 80% (we've had the viv up and running for awhile to assess/adjust temps and humidity), with the ventilation screen, which is small, uncovered. Easy enough to raise it if necessary by simply covering up some of the ventilation area.

She (I'm calling it a "she" for now, until I know otherwise) arrived thirsty, and seemed very grateful for the big bowl of water in her viv. She took a good, long drink before retiring to a hide. Besides the huge bowl of water (so she can soak if she wants), there's also a humid hide in there if she wants to use it.

Wow she is definately a beauty...I've always loved BRB's but they are a tad too nippy for me, lol

I'm glad she is tame ;)

Tame or not, I LOVE this species! This is actually a snake I could see myself someday breeding--IF I ever chose to breed anything. Their beauty just blows me away.

So, anyone with BRBs that they don't want 'cause they're nippy, just send 'em my way, eh? *grins* Again--they ain't got nuthin' on a macaw bite! LOL!

3ft would be either a full-grown male or a half-grown female, so you can have your answer that way ^_^ Or buy a reptile anal probe...

I'm going to take it into the House of Reptiles and have them probe. They do it for a living, and it only costs $5. I'll know tomorrow at the latest. It would be cool if it is a guy, 'cause there's a local who is hot to sell me his young female :).

Nice

Thats a fine example! It has nice contrasting patterns which some dont and that one is awesome! I dont think they get nearly as big as some boas.To keep humidity up you can move its water bowl closer to the heat source.Nice Pickup!:)

Thanks, Stephen. I guess I just got lucky with this guy/gal :). If we have any humidity problems, we'll definitely move the water closer to the heat. Right now, the water is in the middle of the viv.

Oh my, what a beautiful snake Mrs. Z. BRBs are next on my want list, I just LOVE the way the scales shine like that.

It's a GIRL!

Yep, just found out that this beauty is a female. Now for the perfect name, and, perhaps, someday a beautiful boyfriend :).

Here are a few more photos we took of her, before she heads for the shelter of her viv....

And here's an av I created from a photo of her. I'll probably wear it here or elsewhere, sometime. I rather like it :):
