Jasper Arrives!!

I, for one, would like to see the phrase "Munson Shot" enter the lexicon....but it would be too confusing, methinks.....is it a ventral photograph of a corn snake, or a bowling ball rolling down the lane with a prosthetic limb attached?

Now that I think of it, I may start an online poll. :grin01:

Congrats, Nanci! Jasper poses real purty!

regards,

Dale, I think it's both!

Yeah, he'll mix nicely with my lav female- that would prove him out, and then there's the lavblood female...But I have determined that the next best move for me is a fire stripe male. Jasper's granddam is Jasmine's mother- so I could get some bloodred line breeding going on there.

I've been asked to publicly inform you that our Jasper is consulting his legal council for identity theft.

Aside from that, he's a great looking little guy! Congrats on the new additions... (Boy you're getting out of control there Nanci!)

I'm going to hell. I took him out today, even though he hasn't fed. (Feeding day is TUESDAY!!! My excuse was I need to take pics so I can register him. Ever try to make a hatchling stay in a bowl? Anyway, he's one of those snakes that is always reaching for mom. Very cute. Now he's worn out and sleeping.

It's finally feeding night for the new babies tonight! Jasper has cheated and been out a couple times already. He already knows three tricks!

"You're going to fall," "Trust me," and Choco's newest invention, "The Hammock." The little ones are just too small to do "Bicycle" with so far.

Choco's Tricks

1. Choco hangs off my hand, and I say "Choco, you're going to fall, you're going to fall!!" and he drops down, but catches himself by his tail at the last second.

2. Choco reaches off my left hand, to my right hand, straight out like a stick, and I say "Choco, you can trust me, come on Choco!!" and I hold my hands far apart, and he reaches my right hand and slowly transfers his weight without flopping down- he stays stiff.

3. (This is the one where the person I'm explaining the tricks to gets a glazed expression) Bicycle. Choco is wound around some fingers of both hands, and I "pedal" my hands backwards, and Choco stays in one place by crawling, as I sing the song "I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike."

4. Toilet Paper Roll. During Bicycle, at some point, I switch the direction I'm pedaling my hands and say "Toilet Paper Roll!" and pedal forward and Choco unwinds off my hands, like runaway toilet paper.

5. Caduseus. Choco dangles from one finger, his head and tail at the same level, and he twines around himself.

6. Kathy Love's Cornsnake Treadmill. It's hard to describe- you have to see her do it. Kathy claims it tires energetic snakes out enough to make them cooperative photo subjects. Plus it's just relaxing. You hold the snake's neck in your right hand, and wind the snake in a figure eight around the fingers of your left hand, holding it in that Vulcan hand thing sort of, and you get the snake to start crawling, but hold it steady with your right hand, while alternating the fingers of your left hand so it keeps moving forward. Impossible to describe. All snakes do it pretty easily once the owner figures out how it works. Except, of course, Inez, who will go along for a minute, then tighten her coils so fast it's like she's slamming on the brakes! She's funny.

7. (Lila invented this) Hangman's Noose. The snake hangs over my finger at her midpoint. She then wraps a loop of tail around her neck, and runs the loop up to my hand, as her body gets longer.

8. A recent invention by Choco, who was threatened by Lila actually inventing a trick herself. (Lila learned all Choco's tricks). The Hammock. Choco stretches between my two hands, hanging on with just a curve of her neck on my left hand, and a loop at the very end of her tail on the right. Then I swin her back and forth gently, like a hammock.

That's Choco's "tricks!"

Awesome! We do the bicycle thing, but now I'll have to sing that song too!
Skeeter has his own version, which I could call 'Deathgrip', because he'll only play for a minute before needing to squeeze my fingers 'til they go purple!
