Joejr14's Snakes

Four of Joe's corns are currently "guests" at my place. He requested some photos, so here they are. Unfortunately, two of them are in blue. That's ok; this post is intended to give some idea of how much they've grown. What a difference a month can make!

These are their weights on 8/4 and today:

0.1 Hypo-Blood: 22g ---> 45g (ate fifth fuzzy today)
0.1 Hypo het Lav: 53g ---> 92g (ate first weaned today)
0.1 Opal: 72g ---> 120g (ate second weaned earlier in the week)
1.0 Pewter: 38g ---> 75g (ate third hopper earlier in the week)

The hypo-blood more than doubled her weight. I use mice from The Mouse Factory. I didn't put them on any "turbo-growth" schedule either. But I certainly didn't skip any feedings. ;)

Holy **** that hypo blood looks good!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL. Yeah, she has definitely filled out. I don't use a glove with her anymore. We've come to an agreement. She does her usual thrashing and rattling (even in hand), but she hasn't bitten me for a while, and never even head-butts now. You may have to change her name from Bitchy to just Cranky. :)

Maybe I'll call her Pretty. I think when she's 'fully grown' she's going to be one amazing shade of red.....and that diffusion is PERFECT!.

Pewter is looking good as well. He got really thin on me over the summer.

See ya bright and early tomorrow! Call me before you leave to make sure that I'm awake, lol.

And Dean, I'm always impressed by how well-manicured your hands are. :)
 I owe it to my steady diet of beef jerky and Dr. Pepper, coupled with an intense aversion to real work. :grin01:

. . . and a slight germ phobia. Could contribute, anyway.

When I lived in Madagascar in a tent, my boss could never understand why my fingernails were always clean and hers were dirty. We did live in tents, after all. I don't have a germ phobia, but I don't like to have dirty hands. Hate it, hate it, hate it. So I counted one evening and discovered that the reason I didn't have dirty fingernails was because when in camp, I washed my hands an average of once every 30 minutes. :)

Wow Dean, I have no idea how you do it but am always impressed by snake growth in your hands. They look great!! Maybe I should send some of my slow growers up to you for a few months :grin01:

Hey Joe, can I put in a pic request of that pewter post shed??

Some people are really meant to work with snakes; Dean is obviously one of them and that's one reason they thrive in his care :)...Looking good guys, have fun tomorrow too!

Was it a mouse a day feeding schedule?? That is just crazy! Although there are a couple of ours that have doubled weight in a month's time too... They sure are looking great though!

Srsly!

I'm thrilled that if those two snakes (opal and hypo) continue on that pace, I'll be able to put them down for a short little brumation at the end of December or so. Figure, the opal has put on 40 grams in a month, so in 3 months (Dec 9th) she should be up another 120 grams, putting her at 240. I'll brumate her at that weight without a problem. The hypo doesn't appear to be far behind.

But that hypo blood, daaaaamn. I knew if I could get some weight on her she'd be amazing, but I was totally unsuccessful. I really think it has a lot to do with the heat issue, but I can't thank Dean enough for the work he's done with those snakes. Guess I'll have to let him get one of Bitchy's hatchlings, eh? :)

You can send em one of the non feeding hypo bloods too Joe.. :sidestep:

Regards.... Tim of T and J

The funny thing is that everybody knows you're NOT kidding!! :bang:

The truth is that you are a corn-wizard and casting weight spells on them!! :grin01: :grin01:
Sorry for exposing you Dean! :sidestep:

Dean's already told us he has the POWAH! Don't know why everyone's so amazed. :shrugs: :grin01:

There should be a Golden Popsicle Stick award. :grin01:

so...............your now spreading your mojo to other snakes outside your house. that's cool, maybe after a few years there will be a MUNSON LINE morph where the hatchlings come out about 16-18" inches and weighing in around 20-30 grams. :grin01:

very nice snakes dean/joe.

Dean won't need to breed snakes for profit, he'll start a reverse fat-farm, and babysit the snakes of others! I for one am getting belly-aches from all the cherry popsicles he makes me chow... :grin01:
:-offtopic The FIRST thing I do when I get home from work is wash my hands up to the upper arm... damn syrup gets everywhere... :sobstory:
