Every day I have held my month old snake for at least 15minutes a day since I got him (About two weeks).

When I put my hand in his terrarium he has no problem stretching himself out and wait for me two grab him. He seems very compfortable around me at this point.:spinner:

But he seems very reluctant to let my girlfriend or anyone esle for that matter touch him. :grabbit: He always keeps eye contact with their hand and jumps when he is touched by anyone else but myself.

Is this typical behavior for a corn snake?

:confused:Also, is there any way I can look at all the threads I have posted quickly? I'm new to this site. :shrugs:

Yes this is normal. Corn snakes are gonne be scared of things bigger than them, until they realize they are not in danger. If you haven't tried it, try having your friend hold their hand out and lower the snake onto the hand. Don't let your friend grab for it.

Some of my snakes are just more sensitive than others. Some let me touch them anywhere on their bodies including their heads, and don't flinch, others pull away or jump or twitch- even snakes that have been handled regularly for a long time.

It is because the snake is used to your smell (no offence) and knows that you will not hurt it but if someone else puts there hand in the tank it doesn’t know the smell so all it sees is a great big predator coming to eat it. They do grow out of it as they get older. My 5 and a half foot corn does not care who goes in the tank at all.
 
I've made a habit of asking anyone about to hold Vern to rub on a quick squirt of sanitizer. So everyone that touches her smells like that stuff and she doesn't seem to react negatively to anyone.
 
First of all it's not just corns, it's almost any reptile. The only reptiles I've ever known to be cool with everybody are the one's that get touched everyday at petting zoos and schools, and have been given the chance.

Most snakes especially don't like multiple people handling them. My BP who I've had for 3 years, still only lets my wife and I hold her, and I have her out of the cage almost every second of the day. (WHEN I"M HOME)

But scenting will help alot.

Plus if it's a month old, it probably thinks all those hands are going to try to eat it. Think about the size of your hand compared to that month old snake, you would probably have a heart attack if something that much bigger then you grabs you, and you don't know what it is.
 
my 3 month old corn is the same with me. Really jumpy even when being held. I'm hoping me will eventually grow out of it and not see me as a threat. My other corn (first corn) 4 month old loves being held or what I perceive as liking. He never runs away, will come up to my fingers and lick it before I pick him up and generally really calm when I handle him.
