Just a small question

I have a male corn(at least i think he's male) Named amadeus. He's around a foot and half feet id guess, ive had him since september so around that time he was afew weeks old i believe. Anyway I was curious if I should be expecting odd behavior for mating for him? Id love to breed him but at the moment thats not a possbility.

Also does anyone know where i can get a list perhaps of reliable breeders/mice breeders in canada? I pay a large hefty fee every month for my snakes food and id like to cut that out. And know where i can buy more snakes.

Males do not normally start to go into breeding mode until around 18 months or so in age. I doubt your corn at the size he's at is ready to breed. Most often people start breeding their animlas at 3 years of age or over although it's not quite as critical for the male as it is for the females. The females should be at least 3 yrs. of age, 3 ft. long and at least 300 grams. And I stress....at least. Egg laying takes a great deal out of them and they will routinely lose over 100 grams from their post brumation weight after laying. Anything under 300 grams leaves them quite thin.

Lets see, mentioned won't act until 18 months CHECK mentioned the 3 rule for females CHECK stressed they should be at least that CHECK. Well Megan great job, I couldn't agree more.

As far as mice go, I think CS still has one or more member forums run by Canadians. If you post that question there (with your location), you may find some members who live close enough to give you some good suggestions. Look under Member Forums to find the appropriate places.

Good luck!

Snake Breeder

I don't know where you are from but I have found a Snake Breeder in southern Ontario, I believe they are located in Kitchener, they now ship internationally and they have a good selection of snakes that are reasonably priced.
