Just curious about this guy.

Hello,
I recently purchased a baby corn from my local herp store. I just am curious about what his parents may have been and what he will look like when he is an adult. The guy I purchased the snake said the parents were an Okeetee and something he had never heard of. The parents supposedly resided in the Denver Zoo until they were retired and subsequently produced a litter. I am pretty sure he is a normal but of what locality(ies) do you think he was produced from? He has no orange on him only dark red, black, and a few light yellow spots on a grey background. I am wondering what you guys think his final coloring may end up to be? Hope to hear from you all.

A cutie pie, looks a lot like my new baby, Nagini, with lighting it's hard to tell, but I think maybe mine is a bit lighter red in the saddles. I bet they're the same kind though, but I'm new to snakes. I was told that mine appeared to be a ghost corn.

Funny I considered naming my snake Naga because of the shape on his head resembling a sitting Buddha. They do look similar and I definitely agree yours has brighter red. I have been looking at some pictures and I am think that Alabama wild-type could be a possibility.

There is still a chance your baby could gain some orange as he ages. It's very common for Normal babies to start out fairly dull and brighten their colors over time.

I suppose, Alabama or Miami (which I think is more likely) could be a possibility, but in the case of localities... it's hard to say without documented lineage. And Normals can come in many different shades regardless of locality, too. So it's a tricky thing to guess.

For instance, here are two of my corns. They are both common Normals, no documented localities, and they look wildly different even though they are technically the same "morph".

I don't have any baby pictures of the first snake pictured, but here is what the second snake looked like as a bitty baby.

Long story short, I don't have a good answer to your question, but that baby could surprise you as he grows up. ;) Best of luck with him!

wow, that baby sure changed color a lot. There's not much orange in the baby pic but the adult is really orange and gorgeous, they both are!

I was told that mine appeared to be a ghost corn.

I don't know who told you that, but if they based it off that photo they are as wrong as wrong could be.

You have a baby normal. The OP has a baby normal. Both will probably end up pretty standard orange/red/black, though yours will probably be lighter in color than the OPs.

Someone told me that when I first posted pix of him on here. I thought maybe he was a normal after seeing more pix of them. I hope he turns out as pretty as the other pix of adult normals. ;)

I think the morph is an Anerythristic. I have one and he has the same underbelly, and markings, but with more of brown than red I think

Well thanks everyone for your input. It will be interesting to watch the little guy grow. I am pretty sure anerythristic means lack of red pigment and as both seem to be quite red this can not be either snake. I can not imagine Maize becoming bright orange as he has no orange on him now, but then again I don't know much about corns.
