Just got my First Corn!

You GOT to add some fake plants/vines/branches ..ground cover to that viv.
Go to a craft store and come up with something.
Craft store are per than pet store. A back drop wouldn't hurt either . Make you own. :)

Great looking snake! I love his stripe pattern...I hope you do get some log hides and maybe some plants and backdrop for the tank..With that size tank the possibilities are endless..plus with some fake tree branches and deeper bedding I'm sure will coax him to come out a little more..:0)

Congrats on the snake :0)

Ok well, I have a half log from my tarantula that needs to be cleaned, and I am going to cut a tissue box in half and put those in there as well. I am also planning on getting him a brick to rub up on. Now that I have recieved so much feedback on how BAD MY TANK LOOKS, lol, I will get some branches and fake plants and stuff.

I was wondering what your opinions are on the water dish. He swims in it once in a while and drinks, but it is really big and I am not sure where to put it... I have a medium sized heatwave matt underneath the right side of the tank, so if I put the water dish there, then there goes his basking spot, but I am afraid that the complete other side (the cold side) would be too far away.

P.S. I obvously don't mean too far away, but I mean like it would be too cold there and he would never want to use it.

I think keeping it in the middle would be good for now..This way he can pass by it on a regular basis when going from one end to the other..

and I didn't mean to imply your tank looks bad..it really doesn't! I was just merely suggesting things..sorry if I sounded a bit rude:eek1::eek1:

No no not at all I was just joking around. I do need to add some more things to it.

Yea I guess you are right with the water dish, but I have only see him go to the other side of the tank once, and that was when the water dish was there... So I guess he will go wherever he has to, to find water. I'll leave it where it is for now and when he gets bigger I'll move it to the other side of the tank.

How much Aspen bedding should I put in? How many inches that is. And also, should I bet on the snake burying himself in the aspen? So I would have to lower my herpstat to 85?

Put enough to where he can burrow and cover himself if he wants to..I would say maybe about 2 inches of aspen..and just make sure that the temp under the aspen is 85 and you should be good to go :0)

I don't think the water dish is too big. I agree- you need cover! I have a ten gram baby in this 20L and she is out cruising all the time! She especially likes the vines.

hmmm, ok well it makes sense... the more comfortable you are the safer you feel about exploring. I'll go to the pet store tomorrow and to the arts and crafts store. He is out and about right now but that is because it is night time... He looks so cute slithering around and looking. :)

Haha, I never see my snake out and about. He is really cute when he slithers around after I handle him, but I never see him at night. I have had him for 2 months and I have yet still to see him drinkg from his water dish.

BTW, nice setup up there.

Why thank you! :spinner: as of right now he is still moving around and getting settled but as soon as his lights turn on (any minute now) he should be nice and in one of his tubes. Later today I am going to get aspen and some fake plants/logs/vines and such. Thanks guys!

Hahaha... I didn't have my herpstat at the time so I needed something to regulate the temperature. And no, I don't really mind if they get pooped on... (I'm donating those books to the library) lol

Yeap herpstat is up and running... I have a question, should I feed my corn at night or early morning? or does it not matter? He is always in a quiet spot and no one bothers him.
