trouser snake
i am just 12 and i am going to get my fist corn/ snake soon. frozen freeders online cost to much. my mom wont let me breed my own mice so i was wondering if i could feed them hamsters . i knoe the hamsters breed just as fast if not faster the mice so would it be health th feed a corn snak hamsters? :shrugs:

Hamsters/mice?

I would stick with mice. The reason is this: hamsters bite. they are more likely to fighr back and injure your snake.Mice are alot cheaper at the pet store ($1/mouse) Just go to the pet store and buy 3-4 mice of whatever size you need. When you get home, give one to your snake (knock the bag against a piece of furniture to render it unconcious if it is a grown mouse), put the others in a plastic baggie and put them in the freezer. when your snake is hunry, put one in a ziplock bag full of warm water to thaw. towl it off and, enjoy! :puke01:

I don't see any problem with feeding your corn hampsters as long as they are frozen and thawed or unconsious. You could ko them with a little flick in the noggin. Some corns will be picky and not eat hampsters; only mice.

hamsters

Yeah, i checked and mattsnake is right. frozen hamsters are okay, it just depends if your snake likes the or not. :crazy02:

Personally, I think that buying frozen mice on-line from a reputable supplier is much cheaper than either raising your own or buying them at a pet store.

I agree with Susan. It's far cheaper to buy mice online than at the pet store, even including shipping. It is more of an initial investment, though. I'd stay away from anything but mice, due to the likelihood of the snake to get "hooked" on hamsters. Then if you lose a hamster, or have a dry spell in breeding them, you don't have anything to feed to your little snakey, because it may not eat mice. JMHO!
