I`ve noticed everyone goes on about this book as an absolute must. Is it just available in the USA though, or could I get my hands on a copy in the UK. And if so how??

Yes, it's perfectly possible to get hold of them in the UK. You can even get second-hand ones from Amazon.co.uk. I know that Cotswold Reptile Centre just got some in. I'm getting a delivery of autographed ones direct from Kathy organised soon as well.

Excellent! You'll love it. I've been keeping corns for many a year but I still get this book out for reference or just to enjoy the pictures every once in a while. I just can't wait for the next release.

you'll never regret a single penny spent on the book, it's totally worth it. Also, it's refreshing to see people around that care about your pets and the hobby enough to hunt down the book. Extremely admirable...

By following Kathy's book I was able to breed, incubate, hatch and keep alive two cluthes last year for the first time. Couldn't have done it without her...

Good luck!

She's writing another? That should be interesting, I'll keep my eyes out. I love her book too, it was so useful as both a reference manual (especially as a newbie) and other explanations she gives that are just... interesting. Well worth the $8 I spent on it.

Jeeze you guys... you make we think of the time I might purchase the new book from her... and I think... if I buy it from her, can I justify the cost of a new snake at the same time. :) Oooh, how nice. :)

We have already submitted the new photos and new text for the updated Manual. Fancy Publications said they will allow us to review it after they have edited it, but we do not know how soon that will be. If they leave it mostly as we sent it in, there are at least 2 or 3 dozen new photos and about 30% or so more text.

Woo Hoo!! Waiting for this new book to come out is gonna be like waiting for next Christmas on Boxing Day!!

Fancy bought it out shortly after our book was published in 2000. As far as I know, ours was the last one ever published by Felipe's company. Fancy did keep the name AVS for awhile, then called it Bowtie.

You may have noticed that the new updated titles all have rather boring white covers and are generally more generic looking. That is the new look they want and they want them all to conform, so we have no say over that. We are still trying to convince them that the new design looks too much like TFH designs, but now that they have already done some that way, I doubt that they will allow ours to be different. But as long as they will let us review the edit job, the info and photos should be up to the standards of the old one. The book actually belongs to Fancy, not us - we just wrote it.

Buying Kathy's book was the first thing I did after deciding to keep cornsnakes. I'm still reading the book and hope to have my first corn shortly after May 1. I'm hoping to head to a reptile show in Raleigh where I could actually meet Kathy! I was so excited when I bought my book and Kathy actually corresponded via email with me a few times. It was like a baseball fan getting an email from Mark McGuire. I'm an experienced aquarist looking to shift hobbies. Since I already have TONS of aquariums and understand the need for creating a comfortable environment for your pet, I figured snakes should be perfect.

Geez things really have changed sence I left the biz. It is a shame that AVS is no longer. They were lwaaayforthe true hobiest rather then the commercial market. I mean the new berded dragon book having 10% of it on frilled dragons (as if to say frillies are as simpe to keep as beardies) and the new leopard gecko book having 20% of it on non leos. So is the new corn snake manual going to still be 100% corns or will it have chapters on other rat snakes, perhaps the red tailed green rat?

P.S. I also highly recomend the currant Corn Snake Manual.

As in the old Manual, we talk about emoryi. But nothing else. However, it is up to them if they feel like doing anything different, or adding anything else. But they have not indicated they planned to do anything like that.

Kathy,

I am glad to hear that. At least one of thier titles will be true to it's title. The emoryi should be included do to it's enfluance in the creamsicles. I mean come one including 10% of a bearded dragon manual to Frilled Dragons is a little rediculouse, IMHO.

Any Idea on when we might be able to expect the new book? If I remember right from the transripts of a guest chat over on KS thatyou and bill did they have had the update for quite some time now.

Sure wish I knew - it is out of our hands now and we haven't heard from them in a while.

We just got the edited version back from the publisher to check, but haven't had time to look at it yet. I still don't have any timetable on when it will be ready, but at least I can see they have been working on it. Once I have an estimated date for the new edition, I will post it on this site. I think it will still be many months yet.
