Kayakers on CS.com

torsten

Too many yet too few!!!
Hi all,

I do a lot of Whitewater kayaking, Freestyle kayaking and Canoe Polo and was wondering if there were any other fellow paddlers on here?

If there are then feel free to post pictures and tell us a little about what kayaking you do.

PS. i am happy to talk paddling kit for as long as i am snakes... :D lol

I'll chuck some pictures up later as well.

So here are some pics of me paddling.
I am afraid that the picture quality is pretty poor but i don't seem to have any original copies of any decent photos.
The locations are all fairly unexciting as well, I have also paddled in Austria and Wales and am heading to the French Alps this summer for a weeks paddling as well.

The first 2 are of me playing Canoe Polo.

These two are of me on the River Dart.

I love Kayaking, I don't do anything exciting like white water. I mainly use mine to paddle around and fish. I have an old 12footer.

I would love to get into kayaking. I have done canoeing, but very little kayaking. I'm trying to convince the bf to get into it with me...but he's not much one for water. Someday I'll convince him. I wouldn't do anything like whitewater, but I would like to kayak the calm rivers and lakes in my area.

I spent 2 weeks self supported, wild camping in northern Sweden last summer in Canadian Canoes as well, here are a few pics of that trip:

And a few more in the next post...

I've paddled a few times...mostly on the chattooga river here in the southeast. I've also rafted several southeastern rivers including the chattooga, nantahala, and a few others. Also rafted a few in Costa Rica.

Here's a pic from one of my adventures on the chattooga.

Beautiful photos Torsten! My boyfriend (so cal shaggy) spear fishing and kayak fishing over here in Laguna Beach and Dana Point California, and other beach cities along Southern California.

Thanks, In case people hadn't guessed i am the one fishing in those photos and that is one of many fish i caught over the two weeks. That one looked stunning and tasted even better!

I love kayaking, I'm not too experienced though. I started last year working for my old highschool teacher giving salt marsh kayak tours. I hope this summer to go kayaking places other then the bays and ocean around here.

I love kayaking, but not whitewater!! Waves in lakes don't bother me, even big ones- it's the thought of what's under there to conk my head on, in rivers.

I've hit my head many times on submerged rocks whilst paddling, normally whilst freestyle kayaking but as long as you have a decent helmet (such as my orange helmet in the first post) then the impact is barely felt never mind causing any harm.

Freshwater kayaking...my boyfriend So Cal Shaggy kayaks out here in Southern California. The pictures are amazing! Thank you for sharing.

Nice pics!

My husband and I kayak. We have big ole touring (ie 17' long) sea kayaks. We live on the seacoast and like to play around in the bay / ocean. Nothing hardcore...we haven't done any overnight trips or anything, just half day paddles.

I geocache as well, so I'd like to find a few kayak accessible caches. Found one once on a little island in the middle of a large lake.

Ahhh...now I can't wait to go out for the season :D

OK, I'm officially tired. I glanced at the thread title and read it as "Crackers on CS.com". I could have started another Civil War. :D

Back OT: Since I took my WW rafting trip in Utah in '97, I've always wanted to learn. I've kayaked in the Finger Lakes in upstate NY, but obviously, you don't see much foam there. :)

Nice stuff Jeff, Have you done a far bit of paddling then?

I've done a fair bit. However, most of my kayaking is through running...I don't have the equipment or the desire to play in the waves. I like running the rapids better...in fact, I've been known to take out after a nice set of rapids and walk all the way back to the beginning. I've rafted more but I prefer the kayaks.

Sounds good, we don't really have enough variation in rivers over here that are close enough to be able to just run them. A bit of freestyle just makes it more exciting and the rapids harder.

I regularly paddle grade 3 locally and plenty of grade 4 slightly further away, i do all this in my playboat and it is usually only the one harder rapid and then the rest is made more entertaining in a playboat and the harder rapid becomes a little more interesting.

I have often walked back to the top of the harder rapids as they aren't as common around here.
