Kingly Trio (DUW)

Mrs InsaneOne

I See Snakes...
I am in the middle of taking updated pics for all of our critters and wanted to post pics of my favorite kings - the Potosi in all their glory! There are many pictures - just to warn you!

Thor, thundering away still, he was also blue and not in the mood for pictures, so there are only a couple of him:

Next up, is my favorite out of the trio - her head pattern still captures my eye every time I see her poking her head out of her hide! Valkyrie:

Those are my babies. I fell in love with San Luis Potosi kings after my sister bought hers back in 2004/2005. I really wish I'd helped her buy the cali she was looking at or the corn and bought her snake for my own - but I get fringe benefits anyway - seeing as how I'm the one who snake-sits Harley, her Potosi, and hopefully next year we'll be breeding her to Thor - if they are both up to a decent size and we can brumate them appropriately.

Right now Harley is with us, and has been for a few months. I've not pestered her too badly because she had a small RI that I caught early and then we had difficulty getting her eating again. My sister had been running here and there working 2 jobs and going to school and didn't have enough time to check her daily like she used to - so I stepped in and offered to watch her until school was over with so she didn't have to stress herself.

There seem to be no lasting ill-effects and Harley is back to pigging out like a champ! I'll post some pictures of her in a few minutes!

:eek1: Absolutely stunning!

I don't know if I've ever seen one of those before. I will definitely be looking these up!
Thanks! They are my favorite kingsnakes and one I'd never heard of until my sister bought hers! They are even better looking in person and have none of the attitude that some of the other, larger, kings are known to have (such as the musk-slinging, teeth gnashing calis! lol)

I should have mentioned that they are mountain kings, and that their scientific name includes Mexicana-Mexicana are are sometimes referred to as Mex-Mex kings. They don't get much larger then 3 ft - so they are a nice small snake.

Here's a couple pictures of my sister's older Potosi, Harley:

These are actually a few months old, but she just ate and isn't due for a photo shoot until the day after tomorrow or once she's digested. She's also due to shed any day now, so she'll look even better.

Dang Jenn - they are looking sweet! Such interesting and unique head patterns with each of them too.
I really think that when I branch out more from corns that I am going to head into the kings. I really like how these look as well as the Durango Mountain Kings.

Thank you for the compliments! These guys are just.. just the greatest!

Though, I am loving all of the tri-colored kings more and more, especially the mountain kings as they tend to be more docile and stay smaller. Durangos, Ruthveni (sp?), Graybands, and Scarlets are just a few of the others I'd like to add. And you can't go wrong with a king - any king - because they make good hoovers for left over mice, culled hatchlings, and slugs. They also have great personality!

I LOVE Valkyrie's head pattern. It looks like a little person with heart as a head! haha

Gorgeous kritters, though. I love the colors.

That head pattern is one of the reasons why she is a favorite! lol And I see both the stick person and the crossed nails with the bird flying overhead! lol Maybe one of these days I'll photoshop it so it looks a bit clearer! lol

Thanks for the compliments! The snakes appreciate it! ;)

I really dig these guys, Jenn. I like Freya's head pattern at least as much as Valkyrie's. :)
I know exactly what you mean Dean! I used to just drool over Harley's head pattern - because I thought it was so cool that she had a flower on her head (Thor's is nearly the same too) and Freya's is almost flower-like as well, or maybe a paint spill! lol I'm looking forward to breeding them next year... just to see what comes out for head patterns and saddles!

Then their bellies are so varied. Valkyrie has the most red while Thor and Harley are more black/grey and Freya is somewhere in between. Craziness!
