I am so excited to have finally hatched my first snakes!! I took advice from people on this site and used the shoebox in the closet method , no incubator, and 72 days later i hatched 15 out of 15 perfect little kisatchies!! will post pics on the for sale page after they shed and eat. Thanks to everyone for their advice and ideas!!

I want to try Shoe Box In The Closet next year, but I am afraid it will get too warm!

Congratulations!!

Great news!! I don't use a closet, but I might try that next year. I incubate all my eggs in a warm (80F +/-) room, use a small, adjustable room heater to keep the temps up (also keep my GTPs in this room), and eggs are on shelves. No problems hatching.

I put a temp probe in the room and left the closet door cracked about 2 inches so a little AC could get inside. My temps ranged from 74 at night to 89 on some of our 101 degree days! oh and i screwed a small block of wood to the door jam so no one would accidentally close it all the way!

Simply place the eggs in a suitable container with moist hatching medium, I used a sterilite 6qt shoebox, drilled a few 1/8 in holes for circulation. Put the lid on container, put it in a non airconditioned closet . Monitor medium weekly for moisture, I kept a spray bottle in closet so water would be same temp. Tadaaa .. Shoebox in closet! Place a thermometer with min/max readings in closet first to see how hot it gets. 75-89 is what I had. Any hotter than that I would prop the door open so a lil ac can get in.
Pretty simple, hope it helps
