Kony 2012?

What about the US. We have thousands of cold cases. People who have raped, murdered, mutilated, and desecrated men, women, and children. Let's investigate those cases, they're monsters, they caused nightmares, they ruined families. Call me whatever you want to call me, call me names, belittle me, make me seem like some sort of bigot, but don't call me self centered as you know nothing about me. I've gone on a ton of mission trips, and seen the poverty the US has in it. Let's help those people, before we worry about others. This is our nation, therefore I'm concerned about the people here more than I'm concerned about those in other nations.

The charity responsible for that video has come under fire for a lot of their practices and I do believe they have interfered with talks between the Ugandan government and Kony before. As vile as Kony is, I don't think Invisible Children is working for the good of the children involved; They are instead using this to drive their own interests.

Wanting to stop people like Kony is definitely something to laud, but just make sure you know who you're donating to if you do decide to donate.

Theres a video I was gonna post on her later (pita on mobile lol) but since this point has beenmade, here it is now

As far as saying Invisible is like the HSUS of human rights? I feel that's going to an extreme

Those are interesting articles Heather. It puts new light on the IC orginization. I really like the Unmuted article. However, I still think we should help children in Africa and other countries. Look at what happend in Rowanda, we did nothing to stop the slaughter. Look at the sex slave and child prostitutions in other 3rd world countries. While the people behind the message might be corrupt the message is still the same. These children need help and the country needs to heal.

Also, I still think if a movement like this was to be implemented in issues we as Americans face here it would do good. It would get people listening and it would bring change.

There are children that need help here in the US and I am one that does a lot for child abuse awareness and adovacate for these children. I have volunteered at safe houses. I have seen first hand what it does to children. Yes they need help and they do get help. There are more resources here in the United States. There are those of us that are lobbying to change laws from stricter sentences for child abuse, rape and murder. I write thousands of letters to our politicians in hopes in changing laws. I belong to many groups that advocate reform of our child welfare systems through out the country. Why can't we also do it for those children in other countries that do not have access to the same resources our children here in the US have?

I do apologize if I ruffed your feathers David, when I said most Americans have the same opinion as you do, I was referring to the part of passing the buck off to other countries to help these 3rd world countries and we should just worry about our own.

Like I said, if we weren't in such bad shape, I would be all for it. Our country is hurt right now, crippled some may say. To take on another multi-billion dollar operation is ludacris.

Then we should stop some of the ludacris multi billion dollar operations we currently taking on, so that we can help these children of these poor countries. I think we all take for granted what we have here in the US and we need to be humbled by helping others with less.

Yes, both spend money, but the right is trying to reduce it while the left still thinks the taxpayers are a blank check!

This isn't 'America meddling into another countries affairs', and we all need to grow up and prioritize what our values really are if we ever plan to fix these problems. We have all the time in the world to debate these topics (as Americans), but unfortunately, these children in other countries do not have such time, and they are dying while we procrastinate. Life is too precious to waste, especially for young people, and there is no length (as decent human beings) that we should not go to stand up and protect them from this type of evil.

Personally I too think that Americans are spread around the world too far and too wide. Korean War was over a long time ago, and yet we still have people stationed over there. Same with Germany, and Japan....and a hundred other places.....
I think MOST Americans in other countries should come back home.

But maybe first some should swing by over there and see about helping those kids.....

Personally, I wish that we would stop being so "American," "British," "Canadian," "Mexican," "French," "Italian," etc. And start being Human. I am tired of seeing the only wars out there being out of fear of communism, or fear of loosing oil, or other things that will only bring us/save us money... Until the world see's itself as Human, and not divided by countries, we will never help others because they are hurting...

This is shown by many countries with starving people. The surplus of food does not go to hungry families or children, it gets stored until it rots, because it is cheaper to allow it to rot than to give it away to the hungry...

Also, I am no longer in the Military, but I can assure you, if the Air Force asked me to go over to provide support to help these kids, I would in a second. It is the reason I was not against going to Afghanistan, and why I wanted to go to Iraq. Many people think that most of the soldiers are only going over there because the gov. tells them to. While that may be true, there are some of us who wanted to go in order to help the people who have been oppressed for their entire lives.

I hope that they get Kony, and I hope that he pays for his crimes against humanity.

That is not to say that I have not been prejudice against other countries and their people. In fact, I catch myself often being that way. It is rough to try and change when you were raised in it.

Outcast that is how my husband feels as well. When he was in Iraq the last time, he volunteered in the Combat hospital. Our guys would come through just long enough to be stable and shipped to Germany. The ones they treated the most were Iraqi civilians, most women and children. He did this on his day off (his only day off) for 12 hours a day.

I would have volunteered, but I never had a day off. The majority of the AF personnel had at least one day off a week.

I agree a thousand times over. We shouldn't only want to stop atrocities that affect only 'Americans', or to go after issues that will generate revenue for America. We should try and stop these crimes out of absolute disgust that it could take place. That any child on this earth should be kidnapped and forced into such a living hell.

I try to put myself in any of these children's shoes, and it's honestly hard to go there for even one second. It must be one long nightmare, where you feel absolutely trapped without any sign of help. If I were ever in those shoes, I would hope that another countries people would care enough to provide aid. It's missions like these that should be the only reason for creating such a high-tech military.
