hey I just bought a lamp dimmer for my snake does a lamp dimmer work on a (UTH)? or did i waste my money. i was gonna get a thermostate but i do not no how to wire it to my (UTH) if someone can help i will grately appreciate it. Thank you.

yes, a lamp dimmer will work to lower the voltage output on the UTH. You will need a thermometer to measure the temperatures though in order to dial it into the correct range.

When you use the lamp dimmer, remember if the temp in the room changes, you have to change it. So right now I'd set it so it hits your desired temp at the hottest part of the day, in the room, and then reset it when it gets cooler in the fall. The easiest thing for you to do is get a thermometer with a digital read-out so you always know what the temp is.

I view the dimmer switch and thermostat as a "keep an eye on the snakes" excuse, and it makes me pay more attention. I have one wired in the line for a six-port power strip, and it's running four (soon to be six) of the smaller UTHs - four watts each. The dimmer is rated at 100W, so even with a gang of them it won't have to work very hard. It makes a small tweak pretty easy to do, and I base it on the temp right against the wall that the UTH is stuck to.
