Let's See Everyone's Pets!

Fantastic! This is such a good time :D My children:

Laelie (named after a genus of orchids Laelia) is our rescue saluki/aussie mix with a horrible dandruff problem I can't seem to get to the bottom of... but she's the sweetest thing in the world and is faster than all the other dogs at the dog park :)

This is Tygren (cause he kinda looks tiger-ish) who doesn't understand how to be a cat. He loves bread - we quickly learned not to leave any food out on the counter. He purrs when he's angry, and when he's happy. He constantly thinks he's starving and wakes us up every morning screaming for food. But every once in a while he's sweet, and we just can't help but love him.

he loves video games... ;)

Lycaon (after Lycaon pictus, the african wild dog - my favorite) who we call "Lyca" or more often "Lyca-bee" :) She's the cutest thing on four legs, she trills at us all the time and LOVES to cuddle. Her favorite thing is staring at the snake vivs :) someday I'll snap a photo of it, cracks me the hell up.

Of course, I kinda have to include the snakeys :)

And finally, my corns who are named after planets in the Star Wars universe - cause I'm just that cool :)
Rishi - my normal (she's a '10 as far as I can tell, but the pet store I got her from - and will never do again - didn't really know much) I'm worried she's still a bit small, only 11g and she's supposed to be 9months old... but she's happy and eats well, so...

And Yavin of VMSherp, my gorgeous caramel motley with the cutest face ever :)

I love seeing all the rescued pets!! :)

On that note ... anyone want a purebred Chow Chow? This is Prince William prior to grooming, he is being fostered my a family member and is up for ADOPTION! He is a sweetheart and a very good dog :)

My brood:

First up is our rescue dog, Maya. We've had her for nearly two years now. She's not terribly bright, but we love her to bits. Here she is with bf David (our neighbor took this picture, and it's one of my favorites)

maya_dave.jpg

This cat was dumped in our neighborhood when she was about 5 weeks old. David spent hours trying to catch her (she was hiding under people's cars, and we were terrified she was going to get hurt) After canvassing the neighborhood and finding out she was homeless, we gave her a home :)

Sometimes she gets a little violent. The stuffed pony is her favorite target.

Newest Addition

Well, we've just added a dog to our pack. She came from a friend who rescued her from a woman walking into a shelter with her, and has had her for a couple of months. Not being used to little dogs--especially HYPER, super-submissive dogs, it wasn't working out, and we were the last possibility before ending up in the same shelter. So, we took her.

And here she is. She's a 4 y/o spayed Rat Terrier, utd with everything--shots, heartworm preventive, Advantix, etc. She's a wonderful dog, and she fits in perfectly at our home, so it's turned out to be a good match. She reminds me so much of my border collie, Hope, who died unexpectedly in January (blood clots). Chloe is intense, intelligent, athletic, has a strong "eye" (read "prey drive" where they control other animals with their stare), and is a fantastic mouser. We've had her less than a week, but we already know that she's a keeper :):

I'll leave out the reptiles, since that would take forever (I have 8 colubrids & 18 pythons) - but here are my fur-babies!

P.S. I just realized it looks like Kona has cataracts or something (in the second-to-last photo)... she does not, that's just what happens when you try "fix red-eye" on a cat! :D

Here are some shots of our dogs. I am a terrible photographer and everything is usually blurry but thought I would post them anyway. This is our fish pond behind the house so both the dogs like it as well as my redneck son!

Shepherd is Eva
Yellow Lab is Bo
Fox Red Lab is Hampton (2 pics)
last pic is ...well, just fun (yeah it's out of focus but what a great pic)

oh and I forgot, I was also given a rosehair tarantula, unfort. it is a mature male so his time could be up at any moment. he tolerates mild handling and is a awesome first spider though. still unnamed as of yet.
