Let's talk about poop

jpccusa

Happy with this new hobby
After feeding Kinky for the first time on Friday evening, I was eagerly expecting his poop today, meaning everything went through the pipes okay. After work I went to check his viv for it, but couldn't see anything. I then tried using other senses to detect the poop. Nothing... No smell.
I was ready to give up when I spotted something by the glass close to his water on the warm side. A small bird-like poop, partially stuck to the glass, dry. The "spot cleaning" process was kind of pinching a little bit of aspen next to the it out of the vivarium, although a little bit remained stuck in the glass. Should I bother to scrape it out and disinfect, or can it wait until the big clean up? Also, I am not seeing "pee spots." Does it mean that after digestion is completed, Kinky will not pee or poop until 2 or 3 days after his meals (if so, this is way easier than I expected :D)?

My guy sometimes takes up to 4 days to poop. I'd just use a wet paper towel on it. When you use aspen it's a lot harder to find sometimes, as I've figured out from personal experience.

When it's on the glass like that, I use a Lysol disinfecting wipe to clean it off, and then follow with a damp towel to remove any lysol residue and let it dry. I don't do this with the snake in the viv, though. ;)

If it doesn't touch the glass, I just use a scoop to remove the waste and the aspen underneath and immediately around it.

Hahaha, thanks for the Poop song Nanci. :D
And the one batch urate thing is so convenient!

And you are right Akki_neko, the aspen makes it much harder, especially when you don't even know how snake poop looks like.

So yesterday I found a little bit more of poop ON one of Kinky's hides. I then came up with another question... What if I don't find his poop? There are so many different places in his enclosure where he could poop on... All the vines, 4 hides, the lip from the lid, underneath the aspen...
Please let me know if I am paranoing... :D
