Looking for a certain setup w/ pics??

LindsayMarie

Been here awhile
I remember a member posting pics of their setup, it was shelving unit from a hardware store and they kind of just stacked everything on it and was able to get alot of snakes, compared to the 10 or so per rack system. Its best for those with a heated room and those who dont care for the furniture look :) If you could post that pic again or if someone else has the same thing can you post a pic! Thanks again, Lindsay

ps. I have been tryng to search and I have been unsuccessful. Maybe you can try and help and have better luck?

You could look around Serpenco, I'm pretty sure rich has a picture of one of the walls of his snake room. A rack from ceiling to floor. :crazy02:

One thing people usually make note of is that will be a difference in temperature in a rack that extends so high up. So if your room is heated to 80 degrees the top of your rack will reach higher temps just because it's so high up in the room, whereas the lower part of the rack might not reach the temperature you have your room set to. Just something to think about, I think that larger racks require more temperature maintenance.

I got the large one at Home Depot and the smaller one at Target, both pretty cheap, and they come in chrome and black...

For heat I'm using Florida.... :grin01: Actually the room stays between 75 and 80 and the BP has a spot heat lamp since he needs higher temps... The racks vary in temp with the bottom shelves being coolest and the top the hottest. The trick is to see who does best where, as some like it cool, while others enjoy the hotter temps. You have to move them around to see where they thrive... The hatchlings usually do best on the shelf below the BP where they get the extra heat from the BP's tank...

Thank you. That is very similiar to what I saw but not exacty the same. I have all my reptiles in one room and it generally runs 75-85. Give or take a degree or two. So I was thinking about getting something like that vs a rack for 10 for $500, through AP? I would love to have the heated racks, but I have enough snakes to already fill one! I would need at least 2 and something tells me that wouldnt be enough for long, once mine start breeding next year (hopefully). :shrugs:

That was an old picture too, as the shelves are adjusted with groved plastic clips that snap onto the bars, I've already switched the left side to hold all sweater boxes that slide in tight, the one on the right is now holding 18 qt and sweater boxes, and the third and fourth, (not pictured), has the 06's shoe boxes, Bp tank, and '07's deli's...
