Loooong time since last shed

You're right, I want more
I wore myself out reading through old threads. Turns out, too frequent shedding can be a problem. BUT, what about not shedding frequently enough? My corn shed 8 days after he hatched (2-2-06), again some 27 days after that, and again some 25 days later. So, the last time he shed was on April 2. In other words, it's been over 2 months!

He eats 1 fuzzy every 5 days, the temps are fine, humidity in our home is ~35% (thanks to a dehumidifier). I don't have a hygrometer in his tank, but his water bowl is roughly in the center of the viv with ~1/3 resting over the warm side. I figure it must be a bit higher in their considering the only ventilation is the screen on top. Is that assumption going to come back to bite me? Any information or direction to information would be appreciated. Thanks.

My corn took a long time to shed. I was wondered that something was wrong but was told it was ok. Then one day I looked into the tank and she shed.

Hopefully somebody with more experience will correct me if I am wrong.

In general the young ones shed every 30 days or so, but once in a while they slow down in growth and it will go a little longer. I wouldn't worry too much. As Penman stated, you'll probably come in and find a shed one day. I sometimes miss the blue stage, especially if they went blue while digesting in their hide or something.

Sorry about the double post, but I wanted to ask: just how long can a snake be in blue? That is, how long does it typically last. I usually give my guy about 60 hours to digest a meal before I mess with him, so depending on the answer, it's entirely possible I missed it. Also, isn't it true that they can shed up to a week after their eyes clear up?

Yes on all counts. I've missed the blue stage more than once when they've gone into blue and cleared up before coming out from digesting. About a week later I've got a shed in there that I never expected.

It takes as long as it takes.

You can't rush them, lol! They shed when they need to. In my experience so far, they only time they need help is when they are shedding in pieces and need a moist shed box. Other than that, I have never had one that didn't seem to shed when it needed to shed, however long that takes. So I wouldn't worry about it if it looks healthy.

Back when I kept Pueblan milks, I saw what seemed to be a congenital disease that occasionally caused subadults to go into one shed after another and made them dry and wrinkled, and eventually killed them. It has been a long time since I kept milks, so I don't know what else was ever discovered about it. But I have never heard of such a thing in corns, or any other species, for that matter. So I wouldn't worry too much about corns not shedding within any particular time limit.

Alrighty! Thank you all for the info. He hasn't shed since I've had him, so really, I have no firsthand experience with a snake in blue or shedding. I'll be out of town until Monday, so maybe he'll shed over the weekend. Who knows. Thanks again.
