Well, I said it would never happen to me, but today it did. I lost my first snake. I was feeding a anery hatchling in a deli cup and when I closed the deli cup I must not have had the lid on all the way because he pushed out while I went into the other room to get more pinkies. When I came back, he was gone. Ive searched the room upside down and can't find him. I blocked the bottom of the door, kept the dogs & cats out and kept the door shut as much as possible to make sure he doesn't get into the rest of the house. There are so many places he could be... Is there any tricks to sort of lure him out... He just ate before he escaped so I don't think he would be very hungry... ANy advice would be helpful...
Thanks..

Flygning is right. There are loads of threads on this....
If its just eaten, then my guess would be that it will try and find a warm spot to digest...... :)

I know how you feel, the same thing just happened to me - I hope we both find our babies really soon
I have been putting a pinky in a coke bottle every night I think the theory is they go inside, eat the pinky, then they are too big to get back out. Other threads I looked at also say if you leave flour in doorways you can tell if the snake went through and at least figure out which room it's in

Thanks for your help..
I don't think he's gotten out of the room yet.. I put a couple water bowls down. and im going to try the pinkie thing in the bottle tonight, but I doubt that works because he just ate... but ill try.. .
The bad thing is, our apartment has one of those really old raidiator heaters with the water, and it is really really hot to the touch and im afraid he may be curled up in the raidator somewhere, (its really difficult to see into the columns) and im afraid he may burn himself...

If that's one of your only warm spots in the room, can't you turn it off for a while and see if your snake comes out? :shrugs:
Then put a heat pad down on the floor somewhere with newspaper and a hide, to encourage it in there??

Yeah thats what I ended up doing, I turned all the heat off in the house and put two heat pads out.. its cold as heck in the house, but I don't care as long as the snake comes back :)

Good luck in finding your baby.

Something that you may not have thought of...Look in some of the most obivous places. And then look in places that you don't think the snake could get to.

I lost my female Okeetee one time while feeding, and I found her curled up under the inside flap of the feeding box. was a big releif. Then I lost her again for about 5 days, and I found her in a poster that was rolled up on the floor in the same room the vivs are in. make sure that you look in everything, then look a second time and a third, etc. You will find him/her when you least expect it.

I'm assuming you've searched the forum, but have you tried the flour on the floor trick?

Good luck in finding him soon!

still havent found him...

.... Yes, I have tried flower on the floor, Haven't seen any sign in the flower. I don't think he has left the room actually. There is one spot near the floor where he could get under neath it. He cant get up into the wall, but there is a space under the floor where he could get under for a couple feet or so. There is flower right before the opening and all through there, but I put it down a few hours after he was missing so there is a chance he might be under it before I got to put the flower down. We search the room a couple tiems a day, inside and out, under over and through anywhere possible and not possible. Still no sign of him, but the water bowls, heat pads and pinkies are still down. So hopefully he will turn up sometime or another, I don't have much patience, but im trying to be, but its so frustrating!! :)
Thanks again for your help, and ill post on here if I find him
Chris
