Lost Bobo

Bobo's Mama

proud corn mommy!
 Well I guess it happens to everyone at some point in their "corn career" I had just put Bobo back in her viv after handling her and taking pictures of her with my camera phone when the phone rang (house phone).... and well, I guess you can figure out the rest. I forgot to put the lid back on and now I am missing my best little slithery friend. I know all the tricks and have read all the threads before, so I won't bother asking how to go about finding her, I just wanted to pout and cry on some shoulders. Mainly though, I just feel dumn :dunce: :headbang:

I'm so sorry. Hope you find her soon.
I remember the feeling I had when I realised my little Ozzy was missing - absolute shock and sadness.

Good luck to you. <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZRxdm103YYUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/16/16_4_12.gif' alt='Flower' border=0></a>

:shrugs: If I was a cornsnake where would I go??? I keep thinking that. I've looked EVERYWHERE! I'm not going to try a mouse in a bottle trap until this weekend because by then she should be good and hungry. Does that ever actually work?? I'm hoping it does. I just feel so lost without my little one. And knowing she is out somewhere it just freaks me out. I'm afraid my cat will get her, so I've been watching the cat like a hawk. I'm just hoping she doesn't try to get to the mouse cage for a snack because the mouse cage is on top of the rat cage and if she got in there, they would tear her to shreds~~they eat anything that moves...spiders, crickets, beetles. I'm sure to them, a little snake like Bobo would be a nice snack.
I guess I can just cross my fingers and hope she either shows up on her own or the trap works or the cat points her out to me or something...

On the positive side, I found a local breeder...just in case I can't find her.

On the topic of does the snake trap work, I can tell you that I've had success with it with hatchlings. I can't really give you percentages on that as *knock wood* I haven't had much call to utilize one, but I have caught hatchlings in snake bottle traps (with a scent trail leading along the wall and up into the bottle.)

Otherwise I found them under/in something near the viv (especially towels/area rugs) or by happen chance of walking in on them in the middle of the floor (or silverware drawer as the case may be.)

Before the advent of clippies for the sterilites, escapees were much more of a problem than now. :D

I'm in about the same mood right now. Salazar just escaped for the second time this month. Ahhh! the first time was my own fault but this time? I'm not sure how he got out. Maybe a corner of his lid somehow was lifted up, I was watching him all morning, he had climbed to the top of his Viv and was circling the top of it wedged between the lid and a rim that's about 1/8 inches below the top of the viv. He must have pushed out somewhere. Anyway, last time he was gone for three days and was found in a place I'd checked many times before, the traps had not worked at all but three days isn't really that long. So I'll bet setting some more traps now and doing a complete check of my whole house a few times a day. I'm going to have to cement down the lid after this :p
I'm not too worried that he'll never show up, but I'm really concerned that I'll squish him by accident by walking over a rug he's under or rolling back the computer chair just as he slithers under the wheels. sigh. I'll be glad when he's full grown and can't get in to so many small places.

Well, fuzzie in a bottle didn't work... I've tried everything I can think of and no luck yet. Hopefully she will just turn up someday like some poeple's snakes do. In the meantime I think I will get a new hatchling to keep me company. I just can't decide between a normal and a snow. Besides, I've got an extra 10 gallon, so if I do find her, I won't have to go and get another viv.

Sorry to hear about this. It's a right of passage in a sort of way. I think that every corn owner has gone through this. The 1st time is always the worst. Keep your eyes open and don't give up looking for him. I had one that was missing for 6 weeks then one day just showed up. I thought for sure that he was gone for good.

Sigh, he's still on the loose.
But I've got an idea for a new snake catcher.
I went by a local pet shop and got a jar full of used mouse bedding. I half filled four paper cups with it and with an elastic band attached a piece of paper over the top. I cut a hole in the paper big enough for him to climb though. So the idea is that I now have four cups full of mouse for him to climb in to. I placed them in dark corners of my house where I think he might find while moving about. hope this works.
