Lurkers... Introduce yourselves here!

I like that this subject was brought up... for my own sake. I consider myself a lurker. I have been around here daily or weekly since 04/05. I am not a corn noob, but I do not post very often. I have some "past posts" that give reasons why, but when I really dig deep and reflect I have a different answer. This answer will not be understood by most, IMO? I am a Myers Briggs "Feeler", which means I seek "harmony" among a group. When I post an opinion I can't use my communication skills to smooth it over and keep the "harmony". It's amazing how far a raised eyebrow and a smile go when bridging the gap with someone you disagree with. I guess that's my short and sweet answer? Not that anyone knows Myers Briggs. LOL

I've always been more of a lurker then a poster. But welcome to all those new lurkers out there. This was a great thread though jenne. To all those who don't know me by name. I'm Nancy, and have been here for about 3 years now i guess.

Hey I'm a lurker mostly because I like to look at the pictures and don't have much to add. I only have 2 snakes and a gecko and I'm not planing on adding anything else anytime soon.

Im a bit of a lurker. 200 posts in 3 years. I do usually check the forums daily though. I tend to think my comments aren't necessary...so don't post.

hi! I'm Dennis and I'm a lurker. I work about 12 hours a day as a dog groomer.I look at my snakes and look on there and then I go to bed. I have 50 cornsnakes.I just started posting some.

Cool, a dog groomer! I've been watching the show on Animal Planet about dog groomers, pretty cool stuff. What morphs are your corns?

I'm glad that you like my post! I know about myers briggs, took it a couple of times, but don't remember what I was. We love controversy here in case you haven't noticed! Or you could do a smiley like this: ':) <---- Raised eyebrow smile!

*peeks around the internet*

howdy!

Hey Darcy! Howdy back!

Hi Nancy, and I'm glad you like the thread!

The pictures are great aren't they? I love that hatching is going to start soon, and we'll get to see the cool baby snakes. You could always just say, "great pic, thanks for sharing."

You have a right to your comments, share them. People ignore mine all the time.. It makes me sad. :cries: (I'm just kidding).

She's actually NOT kidding, and it gets old quick. PLEASE lurkers, come out come out wherever you are....I'm running out of cyber-tissues for Jenne!

I don't get it....if they introduce themselves, by definition, they're not lurkers.

Discuss. Talk amongst yourselves. :p

Interesting that you mention the Myers Briggs, Austin. I took it, in a class/seminar I was taking, with about 60 other people. In 2007, I believe. I was the one and only person in the group who was an INFP. Which I thought was odd (aren't more people like me?), but cool.
Sometimes I wonder if it may change over time. I don't know if I've always been an INFP, or if I still am an INFP.

I'm sorry, Lori. I'm sensitive! I can't help it. :cries cause Lori's being mean:

Plenty cyber-tissues here...

Thanks, apparently I'll need them since Lori's running out!

I am trying to make them "de-lurkers", people who have lurked but have reformed.

By the way, I don't mind watchers and listeners at all. Sometimes that's all I feel like doing.

Sounds interesting... Any stories you want to share with the class?

LOL. Does sound kind of pervy, especially if one has been around the forum on the random Pervsday.
No, my intent was just to try to de-criminalize the term "lurker". It seems negative. As a counselor, we are supposed to keep language in the "positive", and away from the "negative". Y'all would be surprised at how adept one can become at turning a negative phrase into a positive phrase.

But I want to hear more about Austin's Myers Briggs results.

Dennis agian groomer has it. good show.Yap i'm a dog groomer and groom about 15 dogs a day. I have Rev.Okeetees,Okeetees, utlamels,Butter,Golddust,Ambers,Bloods, ghost,Anerys, lav.,opals, snows,
caramel snows, stripes & motleys in about all of them.and ther is more but don't know off yhe top of my head

Welcome lurkers!

Haha! I guess it COULD sound creepy, depending on how you think of it! But I always thought of lurkers as relatively new members who were thoughtful enough to check the place out and slowly blend into the community, rather than blast in, and sometimes become disruptive. I have pretty much always been a lurker for a while on a new forum, while trying to decide if it is a good "fit" for me. So I always found the term somewhat positive, or at least neutral.

So c'mon in lurkers - the water's fine! Once you get your toes wet and find it to your liking, jump in, swim around, and join the fun!

I wonder if there is another term that can be used instead of lurker... I don't really think of it as negative, but I get what you're saying. As a member of management I can't just say that my employee is insufficient, I have to bolster them and tip-toe around it. I find it annoying, but I understand why it has to be done.

Wow, that's a lot of morphs! Planning on breeding?

I really thought you meant that my "watching and listening" was a little weird, Jenne. LOL.
But spectator comes to mind (considering how silly/smart aleck some of us act, like me) as a good word. LOL. Or maybe just observer, that seems neutral. :D

I will say this, though,....that in the DYK Thread, usually if we see you observing we say hello, at least I do. And I don't mind if you post or not. There are plenty of threads I read and do not post on.

I like to check out the forums a bit before posting but I've made myself quite at home here and really enjoying my stay. I never have anyone to talk to about my snakes. I have to come to the snake forums to get all my snake talk out of me. LOL. :)

Glad to be a part of this great forum. I love it.
