Hello all!

I dont really like the Fake water bowls a lot of pet shops have so I wanted to make my own. Has anyone tried making a Ceramic bowl for their pet corn snake? All the Glaze stuff I found had "Hazardous Vapors" and "Do not ingest" on the bottles so I dont know if I can use those or even if the firing clay itself would be water resistant enough or not without the glaze.
 
in my opinion thats a bad idea because id be worried of the clay or whatever u glaze it with coming away in the water and your snake drinking it and prob dieing. but thats just my opinion and I'm no expert. good luck tho :)
 
Hmmm... I would try finding a glaze that's safe for humans, like the glaze they use for cups and bowls. I'm pretty sure most of the "hazardous vapors" and "do not ingest" glazes are pre-firing/baking.
 
You could probably even do a google search for a Paint-your-own-pottery place. They'd order a water dish for ya, you paint it, they glaze it. Not diswasher safe, but totally food safe.

The only thing with pottery and glazes is you tend to get a very smooth surface, so if you want something rough for shedding or realism purposes, it isn't the way to go.
