Male mice everywhere

Buzzard

two corny
Does anyone else have, or seen this, or maybe experience this? In the past week, I have had 48 mice culled out of all my cages and of them 5 were female and the rest all males? I would not of even notice except I have a few people that wanted females to start up there own colonies. The last few weeks I have been leaving females with there established colonies, to up my numbers. So I haven't noticed if this has been a trend or not. Anyone else have a thought?

I usually get a fairly even slpit, but a few times I had had either a high number of males or a high number of females. Just the luck of the draw. I normally cull the males and keep a few females and one or two males in reserve just in case. But males are always the first to get culled.

Normally I have a real close to 50/50 split. What I have noticed is when I am harvesting fuzzy or small hoppers the next time I go back I find I have mostly females left. I’ve decided this is because the males get to the size I’m looking for first and I harvested all of them last week. Now all that are left are females.

I don’t have an explanation for all males. Just the roll of the dice would be my guess.

Thanks gang, I was just wondering it just seemed wierd.....Wait maybe that was my first bout with "Murphy's Law"....lol Thanks again everyone
