Hiya Carol....

She sure is a cutie!

If Dean doesn't take her you can send her on with my others...
I have 1.1 late 04's that could use a third!

That girl just jumped out of the monitor at me. I really can't explain it. I must have her. And I have no intentions of breeding kingsnakes, so it really makes no sense for me to buy her. She breaks my no-more-snakes-in-'05 vow, AND my no-non-corns vow at the same time. And of course, to get the discount, I decided to buy Carol's adult male Upper Keys. Another one that I have no real plan for, but I've always wanted one. This madness has got to stop! ;)

Don't feel too bad Dean, I bought more from her too  and I am trying to figure out if I can afford to add one more off the list. We are shameful ;).

Forgot to say congrats! Both will be nice additions.

Thanks for the straight-talk; we ARE shameful. :awcrap:

But heck, I really enjoy it, and I know you do too. :)

I've got the deposit on the '06 lava Okeetee pair, and even though I'm not the biggest fan of stripes, I was thinking of getting a pair with reverse fun hets to produce a bunch of kinds of stripes in a clutch. I've also been toying with the idea of getting a pair of Serpenco Fluorescent Orange Amels next year.

Sure it does, anyone who is going to breed needs a good garbage disposal. Sometimes just the threat alone of having to "meet the kingsnake" will turn those non feeders right around! Needless to say, this gal is on hold. :)

I actually did think of this for the .2 seconds that I deliberated about this purchase. You are absolutely right. I actually NEED a kingsnake. It was the sensible thing to do.

Which is why I wanted a pair of Florida Kings this year, but noooo, lol. Oh well, always next year!

If you had to break your no more snakes vow, this was definitely the way to go :grin01: Excellent choice :wavey:

The threat works wonders! I just sat my non-feeders next to my Cal King tub for overnight, and the next day they ate and never looked back. :grin01:

Too bad I missed out on that gorgeous beauty. My Cal King is now MIA, and I've got a couple non-feeders I need to intimidate.

How are their temperments compared to Cal Kings? I don't think I'll ever get another Cal King if I don't happen to find mine. The "eat everything that wiggles" response is a bit much for me now and then. Its cute when they're little...but when they're big, I don't want an arm muncher.

I've never owned a Cal King, but I think they are similar in the fact that some can be puppy dogs and come can be demons. I've had my adult pair for a good year and they have been great, the hatchlings haven't given me any problems that are unusual for hatchlings. Some of the clutch would give a little strike here and there, but some (like this little girl) have never even attempted to bite. I must admit I do move slower with them. The solid black for some reason makes them more intimidating to me even if they have given me no reason to be worried. Purely mental. :shrugs:

Cal-kings and Nigritus are practically the same. The day I got my nigritus girl, I took her out to show her off to my roommate, and she latched onto my arm. But not a strike and latch, more of a ease onto it and latch, like she was eating f/t. When she realised I wasn't food she let go and hasn't so much as rattled her tail since. The bitey nature of the Kings seems to just be a super turbo feeding response rather than agression, which like Carol said, makes for great leftover cleanup.
