Meet Bling Bling, my new Sunbeam Snake!

I honestly haven't even heard of these snakes before today! xD
I was at the East Bay Vivarium, and was mainly stopping by to talk to this guy that works there. He wanted to see pictures of my Cayenne Fire Corn snakes because he didn't believe that any corn could be as cool looking as I described. He admitted that I was right, bwahaha. Anyway I love going there because he loves showing off all the snakes for me LOL and taking all the pretty things out for me to play with that are way out of my budget. So of course I was holding their big beautiful female Brazilian Rainbow Boa breeder. I was telling him how much I wanted one of these snakes because I adored their iridescent shine but that they just got way too big for me to house any time soon. He said, "well whats wrong with sunbeam snakes?" i must have given him a retarded look because he said "one sec" and came back a minute later with the most beautiful snake I'd ever seen! It has the shine of a rainbow boa times TEN. I cant even begin to capture how shiny it really is in real life with my camera. This beautiful boy is now named Bling Bling for obvious reasons and is now with me at home! I'm now on the hunt for a sub adult or adult female for him! They're more advanced to keep than my corns and hognoses, though. They need like 80-100% humidity :X and higher heat. So tomorrow I'm going to have to get different bedding and a few more heat pads to stick to the side of his tub. Anyway, enjoy the pics! I'm in love!

I had never heard of Sunbeams until Elle posted pictures of her's and I fell in love with them and will eventually get one. (Elle is an evil temptress lol)

Congrats on your new beauty!

Congrats! They are wonderful snakes. I love mine. I got a lot of helpful advice from loxocemus on them, when I got mine. If you want to look it over, you might find some info useful to you. Scroll down to posts #14 & 37 http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89748

Have you probed to be sure if it is a male? From what I understand, established males are harder to find in captivity. Do you have future breeding plans for him? Do you know how old he is? He seems to be quite a bit bigger than mine. I estimate mine to be about 3 years.

Thanks Kim! That post was very informative. What temperature do you keep yours at?

He probed it as a male and said he was about 3 years old. He looks to be about 3 feet. I'm going to try weighing/measuring him tonight when I set up his cage better since last night I had to give him a temporary house.

Wooooow preeetttttty. Thats a snake I could look at for hours... It almost needs a warning sign. WARNING! May cause you to lose track of time while staring. Please be sure to check the time every so often.

I keep the warm end at 84-85. I would recommend tub vs. tank for these guys due to the humidity needs. Just remember that when you take the lid off ..to tilt the lid over the tub or you will get water all over your floor. I have forgotten to do this a few times and ended up with wet feet lol.

They feel amazing don't they!?
