My chocolate lab arrived today from California. Born October 3rd, she is exactly 20 pounds. I have one Lab currently, a yellow and he is 5. He also currently HATES her LOL. She nibbles on his ankles as she runs by his side.

Anyway, I need help naming her. I like 'Lola' and 'Maggie'

Oh bless her she is STUNNING!!! I LOVE Choc labs!!!

How about "Coco"? lol I like Lola too!!! lol

At my work we produce eatingbowls for dogs with their names on it.
You should see the crazy names dogs get :
Zombie, Poekhara, Aquira, Txakurra, Oufa, and many more.

My dog's called THOR
God of Thunder, Destroyer of Things and Taker-of-Naps

I love both those names, but she looks like Maggie to me. My next door neighbor breeds labs. She's adorable!

Here are my two cents on the name.... She is a dog. You can name her whatever youwant. But remember she is a dog, no children will make fun of her name when she is in grade school. We generally chose names that are unique with our dogs but that comes from being a breeder for 12 years and names aren't easy. Also, I have been training dogs for over 15 years, and you hear all the common names repeated over and over and over again.

This is a tough one, but I would say Maggie, Coco and Lola have all been over played. Here is my suggestion, think of either your favorite song, artist, author, beer, flower, or something else that will be original and name her that.

Here are some names that I have named my dogs in the past for example.

Females:

My current Girls names (Georgia and Lily)
Juice, Kat, Lex (although becoming popular), Pheonix, Kensly, Jezzabelle, Pistachio
Mojito, Ethel, Mabel, Pearl (not a white dog)

Males:
My current two boys names (Kilraine, Sweetwater)
Kudzu, Marley, Titus, Laddy, Yukon, Ripper, Coleman, Remington, Ruger

Sorry this is so long, I just really have a passion for trying to get people to name their dogs uniquely. Good luck with your name.

Oh yes, and she is adorable!!! Sorry got caught up in the names.

Haha thanks!

I have a house full of animals named after sports stars and I wanted something different for a change, hehee. The original name I had was Mackenzie, and I could call her Mac, but my friend said she didnt look like one. :shrugs:

Ah no! No Coco's! I worked for a vet for 4 years and there were sooo many coco's...
Lola is cute, and so is Maggie, but I don't see Maggie working. Go with Lola.
Congrats! She's adorable!

AWWWWWW!!!! *melts* It's sooooooo cute.... Look at that face!

:) Okay, I'm calm again. I like "Maggie" too.

Hurley's Law:

Every Chocolate Lab name is chosen from among the names -

  • Hershey
  • Cocoa
  • Mocha
  • Bear
As a fellow Lab owner (or should I say "owned by a Lab"?), please, don't. ;)

That said, I like Maggie. The name, that is. I LOVE the pup!

(There is nothing.....NOTHING.....more adorable than the face of a Lab pup.)

Congrats, Justine!

regards,
jazz

At first sight "Mocha" "Snicker" and "Ruth" (from Baby Ruth) came to mind. Must have been a chocolate theme. Oh, and I'm hungry.

My only 'rule' on dog names is that someday, you're going to have to yell her name across a park somewhere, and so I pick names I won't feel stupid doing so. Which is why I'll never have a "missy, muffin" or the like.

Sweet looking puppy, btw!
